idk, im not really following the need to nerf ES. Phys damage hurts ES players hard (talking like 4-6 hits depending on ES pool).

armor/evasion builds don't have this problem.

6 physical hits seems generous in a game where the end game builds are generally (im sure this has to be case for a ES-only class 100%) screen clearing, and ranged.

Again in what way does this negatively affect your game experience that the tiniest fraction of no lifers plays with some god tier gear?

Because some people are envious/jealous and they cannot stand people enjoying a good patch. They are on a mission 24/7 to make the game play feels miserable.

Like you said, if it were to them, Temporal Chains, Chilled Ground should be mandatory on every single map.

I personally have 8.7k ES and I'm on a pure ES build and a Lich player. It's normal that I have good ES because the nodes in my area boost it.

Asking to nerf ES is again asking to destroy the minion class. It's like these people hate minion players so much that they will do anything in their power to destroy anything that we could possibly enjoy.

Not only asking for nerfs is sickening, it just show how rotten some people are inside. Instead, they should be asking for life buff and such but no, of course they have to ask for nerfs and should I say "giga nerfs".

It's a real disgrace. If they ruin the minion class once again in 0.4, i will never touch this game ever again and will become extremely hostile towards GGG. I just hope these nerfs request never see the light.

Why are we trying to make a 1:1 comparison between ES and other defensives? They work completely differently.

- Armor and evasion don't need to recharge
- there are evasion/deflection setups that
make people literally immortal right now

OPs entire premise is "hurrr big number bad durrrr"
Envy is the thief of joy.

yeah i agree, the numbers are fine. all i would do is move ES in front of damage mitigation. such a simple fix, beautiful even

That clip shows the exact opposite of what you're trying to argue.
Take Ghost Dance, Spectral Ward and Subterfuge Mask away from him and let's see how immortal he is.

That is the main problem - namely how easy it is to get 5-6k ES on top of what you already have - it is basically free and therefore mandatory, unless you're gimping yourself on purpose and/or clueless.

Guess what the argument for the removal of %inc life nodes from the tree was? Yeah... that they were mandatory.
What have we fixed GGG?

Funny part about that is that this decision, based on PoE1, was made so long ago that it doesn't even hold up anymore... Since then, in PoE1, life nodes have become much less necessary on life builds as there are just plain better defensive options available (block/endurance charges/max res/etc). Now it's just a good pathing option most of the time.

I don't really have a point here, just thought that was kinda funny.

On the topic of nerfing ES... Playing in SCSSF I got a ED/Contagion Lich with over 9000 (not memeing) ES with... less than the best gear, and heading toward 10k. I suppose it could use a bit of a nerf as I feel like I may be more tanky than my Smith of Kitava build from last league that had all kinds of phys damage reduction and max res and crazy regen. THAT got nerfed.

Man, why do people keep advocating for nerfs when we finally enjoy a god damn patch.

Yes ES is good but it dosen't hurt your gameplay.

Can we stop begging for nerfs already? Haven't you felt the hammer hard enough in 0.2? You want this to happen again?

0.3 is amazing, if they pull a 0.4 like they did in 0.2, I will never forgive them.

Fully agree. Whole game would be temporal chains if some of the users here were in charge as game designers. I don't even know where OP got his numbers from. Most people average around 10k ES in the endgame. There are just TWO characters in the trade and HCSSF top brackets on poe ninja with slightly over 20k.

I think everyone can agree that this is not okay.

Its pages, and pages, and pages, and pages of this all the way to 10K

Im not sure where to draw the line. But its pretty obvious as a defensive stat, ES is broken.

It doesnt matter that the people who dont utilize it to its fullest extent dont reach these numbers, thats not how balancing works.

You dont not nerf LS from .2 because someone doesnt want to build it well, same with Grim Feast from .1

ES is a problem as a current defense in POE2. It is years ahead of everything else, and needs to be toned down.

Looks like the Lich needs a nerf, not ES

I agree. I was excited to watch the video, because I want to make a no Armor no ES build next. And Ghost Dance was doing some heavy lifting. Sigh.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

I'm not sure how it generous when you can get swarmed and evade/deflect nothing. that's my point there - you just instantly die because mobs are cracked out of their minds. So before numbers for any defensive stat can be adjusted, mob speed needs to be taken into consideration. Danger levels just too high in end game.
Those builds are probably using unintended mechanics to get massive amounts of damage. So then they can just take every es node on the tree.

If damage was more balanced, that wouldn't happen. Another reason no mid-league nerfs are such a bad idea. It's harder to tell what needs balancing when there are so many broken builds.

I think having around 10k es is fine since you don't have other mitigations like es or armour. Plus, you do need to invest a decent amount of points on the tree like getting faster start of recharge and recharge rate.

edit: Just look at a few builds and you'll see almost all of them are using some busted tech for damage. Then they path to jewel sockets and stack a bunch of es that way. If you're going to complain, at least figure out what you actually want to complain about.
