[Feedback] Giga-Nerf Energy Shield in Patch 0.4.0

Man, why do people keep advocating for nerfs when we finally enjoy a god damn patch.

Yes ES is good but it dosen't hurt your gameplay.

Can we stop begging for nerfs already? Haven't you felt the hammer hard enough in 0.2? You want this to happen again?

0.3 is amazing, if they pull a 0.4 like they did in 0.2, I will never forgive them.

I agree. Instead of nerfing ES, they could just reintroduce life. But not as many nodes as it was in PoE1.
yeah, i don't get it either
begging for ES nerfs yet 80% of players are LA deadeye with 2-3x dmg vs other ascendancies. someone ELI5 i guess?
Energy shield is such a dorky defensive option. It makes very little sense how every single class can have access to such magical? option. A pure physical character with a magical shield 😑 Very odd. On top of that, there's no condition to it. Just stack it yo... it's free real estate.

Forget the nerfs. They should rework it from the ground up and make it something cool. Right now it's literally just life but x10 better. One of the worst if not the worst designed mechanic in the game.
GGG should run the numbers and see how the defences are used by the playerbase.

If the case is that ES is by far most popular (most likely this is the case), balancing is needed. Either make the other two equally good, or nerf ES (probably easier).

The game should be about build diversity - that is unachievable without balancing.

Fully agree. Whole game would be temporal chains if some of the users here were in charge as game designers. I don't even know where OP got his numbers from. Most people average around 10k ES in the endgame. There are just TWO characters in the trade and HCSSF top brackets on poe ninja with slightly over 20k.

Fully agree. Whole game would be temporal chains if some of the users here were in charge as game designers. I don't even know where OP got his numbers from. Most people average around 10k ES in the endgame. There are just TWO characters in the trade and HCSSF top brackets on poe ninja with slightly over 20k.

Im not sure where to draw the line. But its pretty obvious as a defensive stat, ES is broken.

It doesnt matter that the people who dont utilize it to its fullest extent dont reach these numbers, thats not how balancing works.

You dont not nerf LS from .2 because someone doesnt want to build it well, same with Grim Feast from .1


ES is a problem as a current defense in POE2. It is years ahead of everything else, and needs to be toned down.

edit: even if i filter by ES there are only a couple dozen players above 20k ES. I think you're confusing ES and EHP or something.

In what way does it negatively affect your experience of the game that a tiny(!) fraction of players who no life the game and have the most expensive gear have some stats that are above average?

I could be very well wrong here that it could be that the ES nodes are on that side of the tree?

It's like saying Armour is far to OP and needs to be nerfed, if you filter by armour, its all Warrior

Also if you filter by Evasion it looks all like Ranger/Huntress
