I'm a fan of Jonathan's vision. All the complaining I read about is to make the game just like other games that they complain about.

Why the white knights in the gaming industry all have the same kind of profile.
Accounts created in 2015, still playing in 2025.
With almost no progress to show. a 25 ranger on standard, and 71 chieftain. Are you guys even playing the game ? or just doing the campaign and stop for 10 years. like how is your opinion even relevant here. watching youtube isn't playing. Or are you from the staff ? Wtf is going on here

They probably only play POE2. Tested POE1 once didnt like it, but really like POE2 for some reason.

I also have 2000 Hours in POE2, but its not all roses and sunshine. Game needs a lot of work.

highly recommend watching full interview, there're a bunch of hot takes from jonathan the innocent

Sure brother, jonathan is not the problem. he is completely fine. he is very friendly towards the playerbase and he is definetly not offended by the fact that the vision has completely failed, 0.4 vision fiesta has 50% retention rate day 6 and his ego does not make him make the game worse and worse

Ego is an amazing thing. It's an accelerant. Now with how you are gonna use it you can keep the engine running or you can burn the house down. Hear me out, why not release THE VISION league. So in this league every single mob in a map is replaced with map bosses all with million+ health bars that also scale from the node from the tree. So it's a whole fiesta of juicing the map so that you fight as many bosses as humanly possible in the same map and the more modifiers you have the more boss mobs are going to be in there and with max upgrade obviously it goes to 10m health base. And why stop there? It could be a very fun way to introduce this kind of friction in the game without it having to be some cringe gauntlet in the stones that you activate. People could opt for map bossing, maps filled with bosses roaming around, think about it.
If him is not the problem then the player base is

As a fan of poe i m really dissapointed the game experience in poe2.

Everything seens to be made for a player that only had fun plaing ssf, ruthless in path of exile 1.

No money until, GGG fix melee.
If you accept a leadership role then you accept the fallout of what is produced under you. It's been a year. At some point you see what is loved by your customer and what isn't.

The annoying thing to me is that it would have been better if 0.3 and 0.4 was swapped. I have extra time on my hands due to holidays and was ready to enjoy a good PoE2 release. Only to have promised broken again. I'm sure eventually endgame will be fixed, although it seems to me they are sticking with this crappy mechanic instead of simplifying and shrinking it. I just won't have near as much time due to work when endgame is fixed. Although with the way things are going I'm sure they'll disappoint by just sticking with infinite atlas and throwing another hundred bandaid tweaks on top of it.

To say it in the words of my favourite Video Game Character:

I think the biggest mistake was leading people to believe the game was almost ready then releasing it in the state it was in.

I don't think there is a problem with the way jonathan runs his game. I think player expectations were not set properly.

I've come to accept that this isn't an "early access", its definitely suuuuuuper early stage testing.

The definition for me for early access was what D4 had where you could play like 10 days before real launch. So when they said early access i was expecting maybe 6 months to a year and have everything in the game but its clearly 3-4 years away from having marauder, templar, shadow, duelist, and every thing else they have they're cooking that they have talked about.

The true endgame is probably a little sooner than that but who really knows.

This is basically the only thing I can really, truly agree with in this thread. Because it's not just a POE2 problem, this is an industry problem across game design in general. The hurry to declare something playable and ready to market and start collecting revenue from the game as early as possible automatically divorces quality from productivity.

The sooner you can turn on the "on air" light, the sooner you can start collecting revenue. MTX, subscriptions, buy-in, whatever else. And it's not necessarily a scam, but it is insanely problematic, because what it shows the gaming industry is that they can still get paid without making the entire game. They can still have our money, if they only give us half the thing, and we let them do that. We've let a handful of them do that so long, that now everyone does it.

Go live-service as fast as possible, it's okay if your game isn't ready or stable. Just do it. Capcom does it, EA does it, Blizzard does it. If the biggest dogs at the park can do it, the little dogs can do it, too. As long as you're saying the right words and patching at least twice a year, people will still expect the game someday. And if you demand they pay today for that uncertain future game, sadly they probably will.

And the stupid and annoying truth is that that isn't Jonathan's fault, or whoever else is important in the gaming industry. That's our fault for being dumb and impatient, and wanting 'today' what was never going to be ready 'tomorrow'. As a collective, gamers have announced that we want more fast and less good, and so that is what everyone is delivering. We voted with our money, folks, so don't act surprised.

This league has been a technical nightmare for me. I'm experiencing all sorts of issues I never experienced in the previous 3 leagues with no noticeable performance improvements. Same rig that is well beyond the recommended steam requirements. Clearly they need more help if they want to maintain a 2 month pace, I absolutely agree
