The Problem Isn't Jonathan

Before you run to comment, please take a moment to read.
I have been more vocal this league than I ever have been. Why? Because I think that this game is special, but there are major pitfalls the development team is running into that is holding this game back. Jonathan is easy to blame because he is the person we all see. He holds responsibility for the success and FAILURES this game has. That is a difficult position to be in. I am going assume that everyone reading this has hundreds of hours into this game. That is a lot of time. A lot of time you could have spent elsewhere. You didn't though. You spent it on POE 2. For some reason everyone here loves the game not for everything that it is, but everything it could be. There needs to be changes with the game, and leadership if need be. However, Jonathan and Mark (and Chris) have built a game that everyone here wants to play regardless of how many times these patches ruin our day. With all that being said. I think that GGG does not have the staff necessary to pump out the content they are promising. Those broken promises are the issue, and that is not a Jonathan-only problem. I've watched every interview he has done on poe2. You can clearly see he is making the game for himself and not the player base. You can see his reactions when something is brought up that he is unwilling to even consider it. There are reasons why a lot of the talent has left GGG and it's showing in their product.

I've watched every interview as well. I don't know Jonathan personally, nor do I care to speculate about his personal ambition related to this project.
A project leader HAS to lead by definition. He is constantly being harassed by the fan base. Going defensive is natural. However, with that said I think that they are going to need to adjust their tactics. Hire more people. Change the business structure. They need to hit realistic goals while listening to feedback. Right now, they are pigeonholing every play style that is unintended. That is the problem I have. They need to start prioritizing fun and stop taking everything so seriously. |

harassed by the fan base?
Or actual feedback. IT would be unjust to confuse harassment and feedback as one. Both can exist at the time. The latter is constantly ignored for no good reason but a claim of ego - which unfortunately do come across very obviously whenever he goes on video. |

Yes it is.

" I couldn't agree with this more. Folks be actin like GGG owes them something. These people are pouring their all to make content for two games and continue the improvement and development of their narrative. Not saying that missing features and promises aren't a bad thing. But blaming is not needed. Just a bunch of wasted time and air. |

For fear or getting probation again I'll keep it light and sweet:None of the game design decisions are a fault of poor time management, but rather unwillingness to bend his "vision" no matter how detrimental it is.
You only need to look at the fact that they nerfed incinerate totems and how spell totems were implemented to understand that.NOBODY asked for "build 3 charges then you can use totem",and nobody wants it,but instead of changing that around they hyper-fixated on nerfing a singular build in it because it was getting around their clunkiness. It isn't a budget or manpower issue it's one man wanting a game that's basically Dark souls but without the fun part of it. |
