The cost of death!
" So after a person hits 100, would they be able to then exploit your suggestion to never lose a waystone again? |

Yet another "death is too punitive" post. Really makes me wonder if GGG will ever address this clearly and concisely because my god there have got to be a pretty significant number of EA players by now giving up on it because of the current state of death penalty and balance to avoid it in the first place. Best they say something now so we all can know if it's worth holding out hope or not.

" They have said over the years that they will not change the "EXP loss," and they said this when the "0.1.1" patch was showcased. How often do new ppl need to hear that it will stay? One time, two times, ten or a hundred times? |

" That's not what they said for the 0.1.1 Q&A. Per that handy link that you gave me not too long ago (https://youtu.be/WjxzTAcJqAM?si=Gpc-Mb5uOz1qE1AL&t=5423), they were leaning towards keeping it but open to considering some kind of revision that they acknowledge is necessary. |

They need to consider it now before losing more players. It doesn't matter to me personally, since I'll just move on to different game. Rest assured, this will effect their bottom line (less revenue from microtransactions, for instance).

" I mean in light of the shear volume of fresh posts from different people. I mean in light of the fact they are caving on one-attempt for pinnacles. I mean in light of the fact that the average player count has cut in half since EA's launch. I doubt there are much more than 20 to 30% of that player count not playing that just can't seem to figure out the game or realized it isn't the ARPG for them ("Geoner is too hard!" types that couldn't reach end game or even act 3). The players dwindling now are those wanting to stick with it and leaving for any number of reasons. I'll concede it being EA means there's a content limit and some people are waiting for more content, but I can't imagine that would be much more than 30% of leaving players there, either, liberally that would maybe be half? I know I'm pulling the numbers out of the pooter here, but it doesn't seem unfair or hyperbolic to suggest there are tens of thousands quitting or have already quit as a direct result of the current state of death penalties, certainly a top 3 reason for most Standard league that made it to end game. |

" How many games retain players 3 months into a season? If they were all leaving out of being unsatisfied, an 81% positive review on steam makes no sense then. Diablo 4 has a much larger playerbase, yet just a few weeks into their season, their player base is down by the same amount. Why does one game lose players during a season and remains successful, while another game is considered failing? The weird part, PoE2 has a better overall review numbers than the more successful Diablo4 game that catered to demands like you're making. Zuletzt bearbeitet von mikeab79#3627 um 10.02.2025, 20:14:24

" Are you suggesting 81% of players cruised through end game and loved it so much? Or is it more likely that they loved the (wildly different) campaign but dropped off after reaching end game? |

" Yeah, and they cite map resetting as a reason to keep it as is, I watched the stream live (which most players won't even watch this after the fact, so I mean more in a definitive News/Design Manifesto post on website). I think they are being remarkably stubborn and either ignoring possible alternatives or clinging to PoE1 brain and outdated concepts (I've said it elsewhere, I'll say it again here: Punishing =/= Challenge, Challenge =/= Difficulty, Difficult =/= Punishing). IDK who is who so right side on couch even admits it's a bit extreme right now, then left says he supports being able to re-enter but is trying to avoid exploitable situations. I've posted ideas among other threads that could all be great approaches to try out and test. I just hope they get creative, because the current situation is reaaaaallllyyyy bad. |
