as a summoner its close to bis you can adjust your spectre in the map you are playing in just keeping supportgems on the alternative slot

Now you are simply not making sense.

Why is the difficulty of getting 5 red sockets on an evasion armor a counter to my point? If you need 5 red sockets, you can use a STR armour and it will be strictly better than Tabula Rasa, even as a white item.

Look, I'm not downplaying Tabula Rasa: I like it a lot, and I'll likely want one as I tend to roll many characters and I see it can be a useful placeholder since I can't have a 6link, let alone as many as I'd need.

However, it's very silly to argue that Tabula Rasa is the "best" item in any scenario. The only case in which I might give that argument a chance is in the rare occasion you want to be switching gems mid-map, but I don't know any serious builds that do this. Summoners perhaps? I have never played a summoner.

I assume this because of the way it's worded (Increased WEAPON physical damage) which is different to the way local mods are usually worded.

If that is the case, I think it is possible to get significant DPS with it, as I covered here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/320448 , you just need to get multiple sources of base phys damage.

Now, I would really really like if someone could test that assumption I made for me. If you guys have a Pillar of the Caged God, please equip it and see if the blue damage number on the staff changes as you do. (Otherwise, compare the increase of damage from a vanilla Iron Ring when using the Pillar and a normal white staff).
