I don't think there's any build that can tank a +4 boss, juiced map, red monkey slam. Your only option is to unspec the +1 map boss nodes. I've been oneshot before with 12k ES and only +2 map boss.

One-shots are annoying but they need to exist in the game otherwise we'd be immortal. Maybe they are too frequent but that's debatable - as indicated by this thread.
I kind of agree with the sentiment towards the +boss difficulty atlas nodes but for different reasons - I think they're boring. I agree with you that the increased HP on bosses makes the fights more interesting - even in ssf, by the time I'm level 90 and might be around +2 difficulty, I can still end the fights in under 10 seconds not including phase transitions. Adding the +difficulty really is a trade off of do I want to see a small handful of boss mechanics and risk having a character instantly deleted, or see half of a boss mechanic and live to farm another day? I would prefer if bosses had the higher health already, but not necessarily the increased damage, and the "boss difficulty" nodes were replaced with things that made fighting bosses more interesting instead of having straight up more hp and more damage. Just some ideas off the top of my head: - bosses are not always the correct map bosses you are expecting - bosses have a chance for up to +2 rare modifiers (not including the +1 that can already roll on waystones) - Boss arenas can have hazards (I'm picturing things like the rolling balls from the abyss bosses - Slams leave desecrated ground for 3 seconds. Projectiles can apply corrupted blood. Attacks can break armour, or they can maim, or hinder, or more easily apply ailments/stuns. I just think there's ways to make boss fights more interesting and difficult without just straight up "boss has more life, and hits harder" nodes. I'm not saying that whole idea needs to disappear completely, but the way it is right now is very bland and uninspired and I think they could do better. I also think if there was more going on at once, the one-shots could be toned down, since there would be scenarios where instead of just standing in a slam and getting deleted, you'd have likely been not only slammed, but hit by an arena hazard while standing on shocked ground while and not being able to roll out of the way of the slam because you were stunned from the hazard or something like that. So same amount of damage, but the opportunity for more counterplay in both the form of build planning and mechanical skill. Just my two-cents. There are certainly some boss slams that SHOULD kill you, but I also agree that the +difficulty nodes kind of take that a little too far sometimes and increase the difficulty in an uninteresting manner. |

I mean they said atlas tree getting rework in 0.5, I believe boss tree will also getting rework as well as other mechanic trees. Boss tree is super useless, same loot for harder bosses for no reason.

In Diablo 3, this was solved with a monk passive that prevents you from dying from a one-shot and restores health instead of death, but the cooldown is 60 seconds, plus all melee by default take less damage, because they are always in more danger than ranged, but in POE it seems like Devs hate melee combat.

I don't think they will ever stop using the "1 shot" mechanic.
They want to make POE 2 as successfull as Elden Ring from where they took a few bits and pieces here and there. Part of their vision is to create a Soul's like feel to the game. But the problem is that I die to 1-shots randomly that I do not even see because of the visual clarity. Top things GGG will never do/implement: 1) Campaign Skip 2) Remove 1-shots 3) Fix the abysmal performance issue and visual clarity 4) Make the campaign interesting - I am already bored of the campaign, and it's such a bad written story, 1st time it felt nice, now I realize how bad it is |

This is why 99% of builds aren't viable.
Because you need to get a broken build that can one shot bosses before they one shot you. Defenses are irrelevant. I got 1 shot by a citadel boss by a random projectile with full 12k ES. I have 12k ES and i literally failed 15 citadels so far. Because i play melee and have to do combos and dance around to get charges else i can't do any damage and the whole time i'm dacing around not 1 shoting the boss the more likely a hit lands on me and get insta killed with 12h ES on my 1 portal. I don’t get one shot by boss slams because I know how to build defense Life armour or ES Mash the clean
