The funny thing about all these posts is that the people making them invariably play the easiest gamemode (softcore trade), typically using copy/pasted guide builds, and cannot survive in gamemodes that actually require defensive planning and more deliberate gameplay (HCSSF).

True. Defensive planning, deliberate end slow like EDC and lightning arrow

Want to know what's the best defense in this game?

It's called blasting the whole screen before the mobs can see you. Preferably blasting 2 screens away

Take a guess what the deliberate and slow gameplay is on HCSSF

Who said anything about slow gameplay. HCSSF does require deliberate gameplay, and most builds aren't clearing 2 screens away without farming (which requires, again, more deliberate gameplay and understanding of defensive mechanics to reach that level and not die early in maps). The point is to reach fast clearing gameplay, but there's steps before that which aren't trivial when you can't buy gear and can't die.

You seem to be an example of people who don't know what they want. You say you want slower harder gameplay but you play glass cannon softcore builds. Maybe stop copying guides and design your own build, like many of the top HCSSF players have?

ill bite, can you link a vid of HCSSF doing breach or ritual and explain to us how deliberate the game-play is?

this "you don't know what you want' line was always disingenuous and should be considered antagonistic at this point in the discussion. i can't see any other reaosn why someone would say it now.
If the game was really as trivial to you as you claim you'd be winning the racing events and gauntlets in POE1 and collecting streaming cash beating Ben. And yet, you're not. You're seemingly playing softcore trade copying build guides for the most popular glass cannon builds.

If you're making the argument that: "the game is too easy, I just run around one shotting everything!". Then: "why aren't you actually competitive at it in the hardest game-mode where there's a huge financial incentive for you?" is a perfectly reasonable question to ask.

prob because its a HC speed running event, in game littered with 1-shots/damage bursts as artificial difficulty, which has nothing to do with 'deliberate' combat to begin with.

also why did you ignore my request for HCSSF deliberate combat footage of league mechanics?

I don't think you realize how what you just said makes a total of zero sense
I'm of the opinion that PoE 2 is a safety net designed to attract people bored of PoE 1.

Visceral Combat to them seems to mean "you are locked into specific weapon types and have less freedom than in PoE 1, but instead you get cool weapon animations which improve the feeling of imersion."

PoE 2 is a PoE 1 clone with simplified rules and more character diversity and believe it or not, I am happy with PoE 2 being that over a failed clone of Last Epoch of V Rising.

My only problem with PoE 2 however is the poor design of skills right now thanks to their focus on creating MMO like rotations because, they are getting wrong for an ARPG.

In ARPGs mobility is king for melee gameplay, yet aside from Disengage, all skills move you forward with no means of escaping difficult situations...unless you run one of four skills on your secondary weapon set: Escape Shot from Bow, Disengage from Spear and either Frozen Locus or Wave of Frost from Quarterstaff.

Everything else has to be avoided with Dodge, which is fine but not great.

Ideally you would want to hit and move within ARPGs, not play combo pieces as if the game was a TCG, like you have to do with Fangs of Frost and Parry.

But other than that, I am happy with PoE 2 being this increasingly successful clone of PoE 1 and not an increasingly failing clone of Dark Souls/Elden Ring.

If I try to play a slow and combo focused build that needs 3-4 hits against whites, I will just get overrun by monsters and die every single map. The game is NOT made to be played for builds like this. Bosses maybe, you can learn their mechanics and have an actual fight. Then again — getting a fight out of the game just because you throw away every 2nd good item you find is not enjoyable gameplay.

"Run, run, run, roll, roll, run, run, hit, hit, run, run, roll, roll, roll, roll, hit, hit, run, run, roll...." isn't engaging.
If you attempt to pull off a 4 combo on some of these bosses, you're gone.
The zoom-zoom crowd does not understand that they could keep getting their dopamine hit even if they kill enemies slower, but the drop rate is increased. The only difference is that the actual process of playing will be enjoyable, not just the anticipation of the divine orb drop.

Campaign feels slow to them only because the comparison to endgame exists. If the entire game - drop rates included - was balanced around meaningful combat, everyone would be happy. They may not see it, but that would be the outcome.
