GGG which lane are you on: Mindless Blasting or "Visceral" combat

That's the part that makes no sense. They think combos work with poe 1 type gameplay. They think people are gonna use situational gems that require you to do different things to make them work with poe 1 type gameplay.

LUL it's like they haven't learned anything in the past 10yrs.

Thats what i dont udnerstand. Its as if they combined two different games or tried to combine. Parry is the best example.

Nobody will ever use parry Rare Bucklers get used 0.5% opn POE2 Ninja. I dont understand what the devs want to do with this game. The whole Mechanic Huntress is supposedly designed around does not get used. Its fucking stupid.

That's why they should try to innovate and try something new. There is no fun in mindlessly blasting through everything, that is not gameplay. Vampire survivor works because it is a rogulike.


Well thats your opinion. You dont liek i wanna blast through maps for example. I dont wanna fight a single group of monsters for a minute. Thats not fun for me.

Poe 1 started out as a slow methodical game. Infact my poe 1 friends list is filled with closed beta/open early access players.

Every league from about 6yrs ago only about 5-8 people are online. The other 92-95 players don't play poe anymore. I asked a couple a them years ago why they were planning to stop. They said "the game isn't as fun as it used to be. I'm just going thru the motions".

I didn't understand it then but I'm 99% sure they were talking about the combat. We had all played poe 1 during it's slow methodical days. You needed to know what the modifiers on monsters were or if you rushed in you could just die. Once it sped up a bunch of my friends list just didn't log in anymore.

The "majority" of players you speak of is the current poe 1 crowd. The people who like slower gameplay left poe 1 years ago, and thus you only hear from the current zoom zoom audience.

There are people who want a slower game. If we want vampire survivors we can just play poe 1.

Parry is a mechanic that would never work in poe 1. As such it doesn't work in poe 2 cause the mobs are a copy pasta of poe 1.

That's what I meant by "They are designing the tree and support gems around a slow game, but then copy pasted poe 1 "zerg only monsters and wipe out the entire screen" gameplay".

They are trying to please the poe 1 crowd and draw in a slower more methodical crowd. It's not going to work as "mindless blasting" and "methodical" are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

It will work if they design around it but they just keep taking things from poe 1 without changing anything about them that's the problem.

I don't know many people who enjoy the slot machine 1 button screen clearing zoom zoom gameplay. It might be something that attracts people who played arpgs for so long that they forgot there are other ways to play games, but in general I don't believe the general public likes this kind of stuff

Well, you can just look at numbers. Stuff like Last Epoch people will play for a day and be done, even those who like the gameplay style you're claiming to be the favorite

That's why I created this thread. Is this a poe 1 reboot or are they trying something else.

"We want you to parry, use fixed attack/cast time skills like comet/escape shot, use combos, but we're gonna port over poe 1's zerg and always explode on death with stupid degens/burst dmg type monsters".

They are trying to please both crowds, and I don't think they understand it's not possible.

I like blasting through maps. I didnt paly anything else as of yet. I would have to see if i like a slow game.

I dont think i would. I played to many fast grinders like Black Desert for way too long. Just kill mobs on repeat while listening to an audiobook. Its just not my cup of tea i think, but u never know.

But if they do it, then they have to rework half the game.

Even poe 1 nowadays doesn't last long. People used to play for much longer during the slower days.

2 weeks into a new poe 1 league and there's a sharp decline in players. 1 month in and the league is technically still alive, but realistically dead.

Poe 1 has become a stat check game only. Once you have the stats it feels like there's nothing else left to do. Even when you make a new build it plays just like the last one as ur scaling the exact same things: movement speed, attack/cast speed, and aoe. I say this as someone who likes to do off meta stuff.

Just like vampire survivors. Do you have the stats, aoe skills, and movement to not be overwhelmed by the hordes of monsters? If yes then simply walk around and pickup the loot. It's fun in the short term, 1-2 weeks, but it gets repetitive really fast as every run essentially feels the same.
