THAT'S IT GGG - YOU LOST 200K PLAYERS WITH THIS!

"

If you read through these topics, it's very often not about the game anymore. People are offended from each other and try to defend their point of view by attacking others. Here and there someone tries to make a sound argument, but especially these posts get either no response or are also attacked.

Is the PoE community really that toxic? Or can it do better? I wonder.

Its funny you've circled a topic I posted thats just pushing back on all the ranty "remove XP penalty or chris wilson's dog gets it" posts.

Not every honestly emotional pushback is clickbait my dude. This thread you've posted with a far more trollish title for example. In fact that post was more or less provoked by being sick of the same damn XP loss threads reposted 10 times a day every day with not a moderator in site to filter the noise.

If disagreeing with a narrative thats being pushed that I strongly disagree with is "toxic" then yeah I guess I've no choice then because the alternative is to sit around and let those players turn this game into D4 now that they no longer are on the D4 forums, getting D4 turned into D4.

You've correctly identified that strongly worded threads survive and meek ones disappear unheeded and unnoticed, and you've used that same tactic to get your own thread above the noise threshold.

Evolutionary Forum Biology at its best so to speak.

The mods could quite easily steer this ship if they were motivated and active, but they are just letting it all go; even the childish stuff about how long of a vacation time is acceptable to the 30 dollar-ionairs who keep GGG afloat with their massive double digit cash infusions.

So when in rome...
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

Don’t get me wrong—I understand that not every provocative title means non-constructive content. Some people use click-bait titles intentionally and back them up with well-thought-out posts. That’s what I aimed for here, and it worked—perhaps too well. It drew enough attention for some to jump in with comments like “skill issue” or “EA, please go away,” proving that many react only to the title without reading the post.

It also shows how much the title sets the tone. If the title feels (passive-)aggressive, the discussion is more likely to turn toxic or get derailed. Once this thread gains enough traction, I plan to change the title to something milder to ensure it reaches more players constructively.
Another over aggressive and rude post towards the staff that will be ignored!

Congratz on wasting your time OP
They want to be heared out .
I agree with their way or writing for now since the game devs did not respond to anything request by the players.

All we want a simpler and straight forward game. Not a boring milking life game.
I don't know what I just read but I must say we don't ALL want a simpler and more straight forward game. There are TONS of games out there for people who want that and this has never been billed as such; and I'd wager never will be turned into that type of game.

I'd say if your feedback is "this games needs to an another kind of game that the developers never wanted to make" then its perfectly reasonable to tell you to that you're wasting your time demanding or even hoping for that.

This is absolutely okay and understandable.

This however I find problematic. The devs clearly stated that they will go on vacation and be on standby during that phase. They very likely spent 80 hours weekly for several weeks/month right before launch, which always happens in game development (crunch). And now players expect that GGG keeps working without rest, which is definitely not healthy. If the devs are burned out, do you think they can deliver good results? I doubt it. Swearing at them and insulting them is not going to help them in any way to get more productive or to get out of that burnout. I'd say it has the opposite effect.

Well, tastes are different, so I'm not sure what you meant with "we". Sharing your opinion/feedback certainly helps GGG to understand, what players want, don't want or expect from PoE2. But in the end it's GGGs decision, what kind of game it will be in the end. Maybe it will be even more complex then PoE1 one day. Who knows. If PoE2 develops in a direction I don't like, I just play other games and deal with it. Until then, I share my honest feedback and my experience with the game and hope, that it goes into a direction I like. But I will refrain from insulting GGG, because why should they develop a game to my tasting, if I absolutely trash them whenever I could?

Posts everyone agree with silently disappear from the front pages because there's nothing to discuss. Divisive posts get argued to death with the same arguments on loop (xp loss).

That's true and I ask myself, if it wouldn't be better to close these threads, when it gets (to) toxic and personal between players and there is nothing new anymore going on. I mean, GGG could just close it and comment "We've heard/read your feedback and will discuss this topic now internally. Thanks for sharing your experience". This way, people would feel "heard" and this endless loop of arguments would stop. Ofc it would also stop the toxicity between players in such threads.
Yeah its rather sad, topics with feedback i made with a lot of effort pretty much dissapear without comments while writing something nonsensical with clickbate gets more replys and interaction than any normal topic.

They should make clickbait against the rules (just force rename them and give ppl a soft warning to support better conversations.

Yeah. And topics that go off-topic should be closed way faster. I mean: If people swear against each other, how is that still feedback related? That would give more room for topics that stay on-topic and are discussed in a productive/constructive manner. It would also teach some of the toxic guys to behave, otherwise their threads get closed.
