What is the point of the instant death waterbubbles in drowned city?
" Ehhh this doesnt track at all. You could say the same thing about boss mechanics, which would be silly. Theres nothing in the game that tells you anything about them. But intuitively you dont stand in them. A slowly moving ball of water... you should beable to draw the same conclusion. And anyone who played POE1 knows what a drowning orb does already.... Its okay to die to things and learn from them. You arent meant to just no death breeze through a game. That would be a very boring and not challenging game. Mash the clean

Lol, these complaints about water hags...
I don't know if it is the "new generation" of gamers, but these guys seem to want monsters that just use basic attack and deal 1 point of damage. They just want to run and chew monsters while they pretend they are playing something |

" It is not bad design. You are bad players. Playing HC the first time you play is obviously a very dumb decision in any game. People just like to complain at the minor inconveniences. Zuletzt bearbeitet von Gordyne#2944 um 02.01.2025, 14:12:56

I'm pretty sure that the water mechanic is just there as space deprivation and to keep certain builds that stay in one place a lot something to worry about.
While they aren't difficult to avoid it's annoying when I have a lot of [mace] skills with long windup times. To be fair the water blobs are annoying but it's the volatile flowers that's my personal bane as they have short cooldowns so there can be lots more on the screen and they follow you faster -- thus being more of an annoyance to my long windup abilities :) |

Those git gud flood like water hag. I myself don't dead to this trick yet since I don't bother to try. I feel sorry for OP to get ruin by joy of curiosity.
In all fairness, give a little fair warning like rapidly darken your screen (remember this?) is good enough for death threat. Many of PoE 2 is half bake compare to PoE 1. Early access or not is unacceptable for this lack of refine and polish. Slow in, slow out cuz I'm just a player.

This water hag is silly.
I took a peek at the trade chat to see a listed uniqe which I saw for the first time and few seconds later I see dead notification... Did not kill last white mob in the pack ... the hag :S Dont know why white mob have eater of worlds from poe1 inbuild drowning mechanic. I hate how high focus level needs to be all the time to play PoE2 - its so exhusting. |

" The mechanic is BS. The skill provides no feedback that it's going to instantly kill you if you are in the effect for too long, which means, your very first encounter you have no idea the "bubble" will do that. My first encounter, where I too was instantly killed by the "bubble", I bug reported it. By the time I reached the Drowned City, I was already Mind Over Matter. Damage from hits and ailments were never a concern unless my mana pool was in danger of being depleted. So when playing through, full mana, and then suddenly instantly dead, I was shocked and left wondering: How am I dead with full mana? Had there been feedback that I was going to die, I would have paid attention and moved. But my mana globe was full, so in my mind, death was impossible. Had to be a bug. But nope. And for those that hate the "bubble", you are going to hate the Riverbank upon moving to Cruel difficulty. |

You're playing the beta version of a game you don't know in hardcore mode.
The game is also buggy and sometimes unstable, with some server issues/lag spikes even if it's not incredibly bad on that end. Devs told us players are expected to die often from the game difficulty alone (without even considering BS mechanics like being stuck while activating a lever). As such, play in normal mode for a while (including endgame) before trying to play in hardcore again. Otherwise, you face similar situations in the future. I know I wouldn't play hardcore with the current build with the frequent crashes and lag spikes I get. Not my thing though. Zuletzt bearbeitet von pyrocyborg#0256 um 02.01.2025, 15:10:18

We can argue about the one shot all we want, or the strength of the slow, but the bubble is pretty clear, even with no context. It's a large, slowly moving AoE that slows you a LOT and gives you a clear visual indication as you step into it. In a game like this, that alone SCREAMS danger, and it takes several seconds for you to drown. For the time it takes to kill you, it doesn't matter that it's an instant kill. Give any strong AoE that takes a full 3 seconds to charge time to explode on you and it's going to nuke your ass just the same.
I would argue at the time it appears in the game, you could lengthen the time to drown 1-2 more seconds, or reduce the strength of the slow, to make it more fair. But the fact that it's an insta-kill is irrelevant for what it does. Zuletzt bearbeitet von ClockworkShrew#7536 um 02.01.2025, 15:05:34

Totally BS mechanic to be honnest. I play HC and what is more BS is players talking about yeah new gen gamers , or you think mob will do 1 dmg. Jeez how you can be so boomer in your way of living it s insanity.
This mechanic is totally BS. Ok if you are OS by a boss with a huge slam but this ??? No way that s really a poor realized mechanic without any interest. How can GGG keep this kind of mechanics and thinking "no It s ok we like this idea especially for HC players , they will die and learn". No risk no fun hardcore forever
