Holy shit! With each patch PoE is lagging worse and worse?
" You are way off base Shags. Just look at my Memory post and read it to see that I have a very lean Windows 7 Pro. There are no unnecessary services that need to be turned off (I already did that long ago). I hate to throw the proverbial wet blanket on GGG but they have seriously foobar-ed PoE performance in Synthesis league. I'll point this out in another way. When I load a build that starts in Oriath I expect the graphics quality to start out really low res (dynamic resolution is enabled) and then after a few seconds shift to a higher quality. That was the way PoE worked in all previous challenge leagues going back to PoE 3.0. But now in Synthesis it does not do that and this is the result: ![]() This is really shitty low res. The FPS mini-graph is showing in the 60s frame rates from just defeating Merciless Izaro (that played out nice and smooth... no problems). Then it drops from my 60 fps target setting into the 20s and stays there. GGG has always had netcode performance problems but even with many others in Oriath I never had this kind of low frame rates in any previous leagues. Synthesis looks like it has extra processing that is increasing frame times to process the other players data. Going to my hideout used to always have frame rates easily over 100. Not any more: ![]() My framerate is stuck in the low 40s. I went and set my graphics quality details from the high settings back to default. That makes no difference. My latency to the WDC realm is under 50ms as it always has been when I could get over 100 fps in my hideout so no change in Internet performance. GGG has pushed out bad performing leagues in the past so this is no surprise to me. Before I got my Geforce 1060 AMP! video I was running on an AMD 270x and I had to skip Breach challenge league as breaches flatlined client PoE (5 to 6 frames per second). After I switched to Nvidia gpu the problem was eliminated and I could (and still can) run breaches with only a slight fps hit. So now GGG has coded something in Synthesis that is taking way too much processing time and reducing and/or crippling our QoP. So yes, if I throw a new 10th or 11th generation motherboard and cpu with 16 GB of DDR4 high speed memory into my gaming rig I should get better performance in PoE (no brainer). But my current gaming rig has worked well (mostly) in all past leagues (from Christmas 2017 when I got the Geforce 1060 AMP! upgrade) until now. While I do understand that GGG is making more complex challenge league mechanics and thus more processing time is required, GGG should be up front and tell us that the level of hardware required to play PoE nominally is going up for the next challenge league. If GGG explained what's going on in PoE (nothing super technical but an overview) and that because of this or that new mechanic the client side hardware requirements have gone up. I would understand and respect GGG for explaining this to us. But GGG does not do that and leaves us hanging with no new information on why I need to upgrade my cpu or gpu or total memory. It's totally unacceptable for GGG to treat us like mushrooms. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

I had same issues as you did, no matter the settings being high or lowest, game behaved same regardlessly on a decent pc that ran new games on stable fps on medium settings.
So I invested and bought a new high end pc, and suddenly poe has 1 second area loading times coupled with constant 60 fps without a single drop in last 3 weeks. (60 fps because I still use an old screen) Now that I have no issues I cant offer real advice and can only sympathize with you regarding this thing, that also frustrated me for last 3 years (my cpu was a bottleneck, amd one 6300 series) If poe had a good engine, or optimization that actually works (on my old pc dynamic resolution sometimes refused to work for hours randomly) it would easily be a 9/10 or more game for me. Spreading salt since 2006

" You got that arse backwards. My PC is half asleep and bored silly playing PoE. PoE is network and storage latency bottlenecked. |

I upgraded GPU, not CPU. Game works way better...

can confirm lag.
sometimes instances on the amsterdam gateway get very laggy/spiking, after resetting said instance the lag magically dissapears people who blaim it on the computer have no idea what they're talking about. i doubt they tested every single gateway Zuletzt bearbeitet von GrandTickler#7878 um 14.04.2019, 09:10:38

Yeah it's definitely worse than in other leagues, at the start it was that syndicate problem they admited to it, but even after that was supposedly fixed i still get massive FPS drops in some memory nodes.
My last 4-5 deaths were all due to a massive game freeze, good luck leveling in these conditions. Zuletzt bearbeitet von Iuliandrei#3508 um 14.04.2019, 09:40:42

" Here we go, typical white knight defending a 2013 arpg that is well known for a relatively meh in-house built engine and crappy optimization + all the bugs, desync that was a big deal in the past, rubber banding, server lag and random fps drops. Yeah every other game works fine, but as soon as someone says that POE's performance is shoddy (which it is) someone immediately goes to the "upgrade your PC" bs without even knowing the OP's PC... so predictable xD Also funny when someone with an obviously overkill nasa supercomputer comes in these threads to lowkey brag about their pc hardware (who does that lol?...yikes) and says that "well it plays fine for me"... even though it probably STILL has hiccups. Yeah a top-down view arpg from the first part of this decade requires a high-end rig from 2019... makes sense LOL. It's like "if i don't have any issues with the game, noone does" --- even though POE is literally KNOWN for it's garbo optimisation, desync that it had, bugs, glitches, freezes, disconnects, serverside delay lag, crashes etc. xDDD Obviously better hardware will make (well in some cases NOT) the game run better, but that's not the point here. Optimization and good code are still good things regardless. You can't just defend shitty software by telling ppl to "buy more hardware". Like what kind of mentality is that even? Are you saying that GGG should deliberately create shit software? Lol... Blaming the players gets you only 1 thing ... them quitting and your game dwindling (which is very clear from Synthesis player numbers plummeting). You better be careful with that, unless you wanna play PoE alone... Zuletzt bearbeitet von Paldamus#1328 um 14.04.2019, 12:42:23

" Oh, so you're able to form a nice, on-point thread? Then why do you feel the need to fill GD with a whining thread like this in addition? Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Xbox has progressively gotten worse and worse each patch to the point where its only viable to play on an xbox one X. This has killed off our playerbase. RIP

" If you think it's "whining", why the fuck are you then reading the thread? Come with something constructive or ***removed by Europol Hate Speech Commissariat*** |
