Holy shit! With each patch PoE is lagging worse and worse?
|
Haven't played in a couple of days. Thought I'd run a few maps before going to bed. Had to install patch 3.6.3c (330 MB). Picked a Shaper influenced map. Wow was that super laggy in all mob packs! Damn GGG, you sure got the timing way off in Synthesis. After 1 month of league and still pushing out patches to fix many bugs but not anything to improve performance. What a way to run a railroad... err... produce a game! Stop with the "we need a new league every 13 weeks to get player counts back up" (speed racers need their fix) shit. Quality and performance is taking a beating for the sake of greed in a major way this year.

Maybe its time to upgrade your PC from your ancient machine?

No lag here.

Upgrade your potato. There's no lag.

"It's ALWAYS GGG's fault when I experience lag. My computer, my internet or the 361 nodes I have to link to in order to get to a PoE server have nothing to do with it".
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Why is that always the go to response when PoE is laggy. Upgrade your potato pc. Have you ever considered that PoE is now bloatware and with the code being rushed out the door every 13 weeks that is insanely too short of time to refine and polish (at least some attempt at optimization) the next challenge league. Hell, that's why GGG is still debugging for the first month or more in every new league. Every other game I play runs very well on my gaming rig hardware, it's only PoE that lags out in the mob pack battles. All the damage calculations + fx for each creature adds up to processing overload (and if it's server side processing overload ain't nothing I can do about that). From Chris' GDC presentation all TencentGGG cares about any more is player number stats. The GGG business model reads: The more players we have = the more opportunity to sell mtx = more revenue for us and our Tencent overlords. Just get the damn thing coded (we only have 13 weeks) so forget about tight code, there is no time for that. Just crank it out by the deadline, we'll worry about bugs and performance problems when player feedback rolls in. And forget about making "the aprg we would most like to play", we need as many eyeballs as possible, so that means PoE: Speed Racer now and forever. Well I for one am tired of playing beta PoE (and even alpha PoE for Betrayal start) for all the challenge league starts. And since GGG has no serious time to properly play test the challenge league it will always have way over-tuned bosses since GGG is just throwing their darts at the dps charts (Betrayal was way too uber... just shut up you no-lifers already... most agreed that syndicate was too uber difficulty) and that wrecks enjoyment for the 98%. Playing PoE for fun and enjoyment is dead and gone mostly... I still find comfort pounding sand on the TSB calling for uber Hillock to come out and play... no speed racing needed here (thus never any lag). GGG is catering to the shooter/racer crowd and streamers exclusively now. Goodbye action/strategy PoE, we will always miss you {sniff!}. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

@OP
I have perfect advice for you. If you don't like it, don't play it! It's not that difficult as it looks like: 1. First, close all third party sites which you must have open when you play PoE. Close PoE ninja, Poetrada, "official trade site", poewiki, others. Remember, how many third party websites must be open at the same time to play this thing. 2. Remove these pages from "favourites" 3. Click on "start" button, then "control panel", choose "programs", choose "Path of Exile", click uninstall 4. Wait till game is uninstalled 5. Congatulation! You just got rid of the problem and gained a lot of free time! Enjoy! It is really easy and not that painful as it looks like. For the first two or three days you feel like installing it back, but it helps if you remember how much you need to grind and how long you have to do things that do not entertain you at all, to finally do something that gives you fun. In the meantime, you can play some other game, if you are so addicted. Grim Down, if you like arpg, Borderlands serie, if you like arcade shooters with arpg elements, or even Fallout New Vegas or Skyrim. These are really great games, with several crushing advantages. You do not have to buy additional cosmetics and tabs, there are no lags, you can press "Esc" at any time and go to the toilet, instead of sitting in a nappy, as the most devoted PoE players, every three months nobody screw up your game. Moreover, if you still like PoE, this is the only way you can force GGG to do something. As long as you play, you are a potential payer and increase the number of players on the graphs that Chris Wilson proudly presents Tencent. You have been placed on probation for: ● Make hateful or needlessly negative comments ● Personally attack or cause harm to the reputation of others ● Antagonise others in an obnoxious manner ●

" Why? Because I did upgrade my PC in the past and I've seen HUGE diffrence in PoE. Thats why. Stop playing on stone age computer. |

Just a suggestion: Clean up your "running processes" before thinking about upgrading. You'd be surprised how many unneeded things your computer is dealing with while it tries it's best to render your game. CPU is most likely your bottleneck... not internet connection. The game sends remarkably little data back and forth as you play.
Many of the "I upgraded and it works so much better now" are just reporting how the game runs well when it has more attention from your CPU. Zuletzt bearbeitet von Shagsbeard#3964 um 13.04.2019, 11:33:46
