A fun boss to fight without one shots

From the annals of history, pre-nerfs/changes/power creep: a1 Merveil (right after the fight was remade, before it was nerfed), Shocky, Gnar & Stonebeak, Megaera, Temple Piety, chaos warband in Overgrown Ruin.

Zerphi's? You have instant leech though Life Gain on Hit. You still have powerful leech, if you build around it. You have instant life flask and you have regen tanks, regenerating from 1 to 10000 in less than a few seconds.

The game is, with all its mechanics, designed to heal/regenerate/leech your health fast, with the addition of instant mechanics. If bosses couldn't oneshot you, every boss would be just a facetank-fest from start to finish. In my eyes, that is/would be boring.

If they would remove telegraphed oneshot mechanics, they'd have to rebalance everything.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Killing weakling meatbag isn't interesting / being killed also not very fun - quite a dilemma.

I'd think of Izaro because of so many possible variants.

Agree on that one. Good fight.

But I hate all instances of Doedre.
And Trinity isn't fun as well.
Of the trio fights Shavbrutus is my favorite (his "Spiderman" move at the end is so cool, I want that as a Leap Slam MTX).
Maligaro a very close second. Story version better than Map version, because of how the arena looks.

Act 8 Doedrre, Grukthul.

No invulnerability phases or cheap tricks, just solid and interesting bossfight mechanics that reward players for playing carefully and having a good balance between offense and defense.

If you have good defenses at this point the chance to be oneshot is very low and only happens when playing extremly carelessly. If you have good offenses you can kill Doedre before the cauldron once and kill Grukthul fast when she becomes the most dangerous aka when she is low life.

Even teleporting out is penalized here cause invisible shit might hit you at Grukthul or the ground became lava and at Doedre it doesnt help you to get rid of the curse stacks.

One shot isn't the problem. If one shots are avoidable, they are rewarding instead of punishing. If that makes any sense ;)
The Sirus fight is a disgrace.

There isn't a single boss in the Atziri zone that's fun. including the queen herself.

Act 2 Oversoul was the best boss in Open Beta, and still a fun fight for self-found.
Atziri Oversoul is an abomination. both of them.

Yea caue ziz is running around with 1500 hp and 30% all res in act 8 and 9. If you play like that you can get oneshot even by fucking Fairgraves so it really doesnt matter what ziz does.

And as I said, they reward a good balance of offenses and defenses and an average defense is needed to not get oneshot. That is exactly what a good bossfight setting is, that if you have the defenses that you are expected that you dont get oneshot but you also need good offenses because else doedre needs like 10 cauldrons to get killed or grukthul becomes most dangerous at low hp.

Thats what the game should reward, a good balance between offense and defense and not just glass cannon "trivialize or get oneshot" plays.
