VISUAL CLARITY and PERFORMANCE - THE BIGGEST ISSUES that need to be solved before 1.0
" Good Heavens no, it is not. EA Launch was more stable than this current mess. |
|
" EA launch was a disaster. But since 0.4 update I have high and (more importantly) stable FPS without unexpected drops no matter how juicy my map is and even if the game crashes (which rarely happens) I start from the same spot losing nothing (which is not perfect, but much better than it ever was). There were some hiccups at the league start with VRAM overflow and whatnot, but now it's all good. Overall this is HUGE improvement. " False. Forum search "Deadlock detected" and compare the frequency of that term now vs. at EA launch. |
|
" But it wasn't called "deadlock" before. It was just nameless crash. And people were complaining about crashes all the time. AND it used to brick your map back in the days. Now you just have to restart your game and continue from the same spot at which you crashed. The deadlocks aren't just a rebranding of longstanding performance issues. They've introduced many novel crashes that weren't affecting the game prior to 0.4.
Whoever is playing with the spaghetticode has made it such that any given week in this latest patch has delivered more crashes than all of my previous playtime from 0.1-0.3. GGG is aware of this, as they've now finally named performance as their high-priority target in the Bug Report sticky. If the game is currently working for you, great. But 0.4 has been a overall disaster for performance. |

I routinely see 2 minute load times in the past two weeks.
Load times were always bad, but bosses shooting invisible spells at me after I spent 15 minutes clearing the rest of the map is unique to 0.4. It's time for a management change. |

I like this game a lot, and have many positive things to say about it, but the visual clutter both from effects, and loot spam even when heavily filtered is absurd and really takes away from the game experience. It's an absolute failing in game design and needs to be addressed if the vision for PoE is for it to be anything but a single player AARPG.
Grouping even with a single partner is completely non-functional and downright unenjoyable because you simply can't see or react to anything. I hope GGG is paying attention to how people actually play the game. People only group to leach, and that when they do group the leach host demands that no one else attacks...and stays a room behind. I'm sure ture there's a small percentage of the player base that enjoys this...but it really reflects poorly designed group focused gameplay. I can not play PoE 2 'with' my friends, I can only play it as a single player game at the same time they're playing it in their own instance. This does not bode well for long term health of the game... that is if its intended for grouping to be viable and fun. |
