Dont get me wrong, but if a big company like Tencent gives me the money for my percentages of GGG that I have to never work again, and maybe even my next 2-3 generations have never have to work again, yes, lets do it.

That's not the issue and everyone would understand that. But not doing any announcement after that long working with the community is weird. Even Blizz execs did announce their departure publicly. Well maybe we'll never know.

To be fair....he DID post on reddit a little less than a year ago saying that he did NOT step down and was still involved. My guess is his face was too big in the PoE world for too long, its now Jonathan's turn. Any time CW pops in, it degrades the power dynamic of Jonathan being the top dog.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

Yep. A guy had been working on his ideal game for like 15 years. That's a long time. Preferences/interests might have changed. Or, he started POE2 project but it didn't go too well (from his point of view at least) or it was lacking funds so he just passed it over to Tencent and said do whatever you want, base game looks nice, but I'm out. And Tencent simply put everything from POE1 on top of that. Because what else they could do )
