See? That's what I'm talking about. And again, a discussion gets personal between people.

I repeat myself: The toxocity isn't found in specifically one group (like PoE1 players vs new comers). I see PoE1 players with 20 support packs being toxic and personal, but I also see new people being toxic and personal. Both groups have people who are completely toxic against others or GGG. I don't mind criticism or harsh feedback, but being toxic and doing some name calling, or even threatening GGG won't help to provide useful and constructive feedback.
more often then not it gets personal because some poeople see poe2 as "their" game becaus they played poe for x amount of years and come to a thread of someone who wants to give his feedback and try to shut them down beacuse they dont want "their" game changed, not accepting that others may have different opinins.
but games and their communities need new poeple entering and staying, and developers need the feedback of new people because insights from different angles give them some new input. the biggest driver of stagnation is if there is no out of the box thinking happening, but there are some who just dont like "their" game to change.

I mostly agree, but I also see new players defending the game as it is.

People should just realize, that it's okay to have different opinions and as long as someone delivers his feedback in a constructive way, people shouldn't flame that person, but rather discuss the topic in a constructive manner.

I mean: We are talking about a digital game here and not something that will heavily effect your life in any meaningful way... I don't get why people get so emotional over this.

Did you see reaction after CoX nerf? It was like a lot of people were cutted in salary or fired, maybe even more furious than if they would be fired :)

Oh yes, I saw that. I really wondered, why people play EA if they can't handle heavy nerfs.

But yeah, I talk about these kind of reactions. Absolutely non-productive and non-constructive. Just pure rage.
They way i see it people are allowed to have things that they deeply hate or even just don't find things enjoyable.

Sometimes something happens for the 100th time in game that breaks them and they rant on forum, this doesn't make thier criticism less valid. People get mad sometimes.

The only issue I have is people trying to discredit other people's dislikes. To me this is childish behaviour.

People come here to express something they don't like and if you agree then participate on the thread, if you dont agree then do you think people are going to suddenly start enjoying something because you think its great.

Generally threads on here are not looking for a debate or some teenage elitist telling them why they are wrong.

They make a thread to get the problems they have that may make them quit the game out there to be heard by ggg. And yes sometime the original posts are heated but that just show the experience is very bad.

That's where we have a different opinion. I think that the majority of the playerbase are grown-up people - adults. As adults, we have responsibility over our own behavior. Would you seriously think that people would talk in real life the way they do here when they are frustrated? Yes, there may be some cases, where people overstep their boundaries and offend others, but this is the minority. But on this forum, many people feel completely entitled to swear against GGG and others players and being toxic about everything and to everyone. Very often, these toxic topics and comments do not include the slightest bit of constructive feedback.

And like I always say: There is a big difference between a small rant or being overdramatic and toxic about something. I dont think that many care about a small rant, but being brutaly toxic never leads to a good, healthy and especially constructive discussion. In the end, it gets personal and topics get closed or people are set on probation.

Yes, I agree. Criticism and Feedback is absolutely needed and that's what EA is for.

Lets take 5 examples for topic titles:

1. "Here are some suggestions to improve the whole trading experience"
2. "GGG, please get rid of trading - it ruins my experience"
3. "FUCK IT. Got scammed in Trading! DO SOMETHING GGG"
4. "GGG IS TENCENT SLAVE BECAUSE TENCENT DOESNT WANT AUCTION HOUSE!"
5. "FUCK GGG. I'M DONE WITH THIS GAME. GAME WILL BE DEAD in 4 WEEKS IF NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!!"

So, you think all 5 of them are absolutely okay? I think the first 2 are in the right place. The first trying to be neutral and bringing suggestions and the second one implies that the user wants to share his (bad) experience with a mechanic of the game. But after that? The third is still acceptable I guess, even though it already invites toxic people. But will things like "FUCK IT" or "GGG IS TENCENT SLAVE" really help and lead to a discussions that help GGG to make things better, especially when 90% of the comments are just personal rants against each other and no one talks about the issue anymore? I guess not.
LOL 200K players where ? LOL

Forget the title above, it was completely clickbait and if you read this, it probably worked, because you didn't know what this thread was about, but you still clicked on it, just because the whole title is written very provocative and invites people who are either "against" or "in favour of" GGG.

It's sad to see that threads, that have strong provocative titles and content, often with little to none constructive feedback, generate more attention then actual well written feedback threads. This leads to a more and more toxic writing-behavior and in return lessens our impact on the game, because (passive-)aggressive posts often contain alot of emotion, but seldom suggestions on how to make something better.

If you read through some of these hot topics, it's very often not about the game anymore. People are offended from each other and try to defend their point of view by attacking others. Here and there someone tries to make a sound argument, but especially these posts get either no response or are also attacked.

Is the PoE community really that toxic? Or can it do better? I wonder.

Yeah the community is actually pretty toxic. I did notice that too.

And that well written feedback or well written ideas are getting a lot less attention.
If you dont have a clickbait title then yeah you will less attention on your feedback.

I posted sth about this some time ago. The issue is the Forum itself. Its a really bad forum for feedback.
lets compare this forum to the Black Desert Feedback Forum.

You can sort it, you see if sth. is already applied to the game, you can see if its in development. Its very well maintained.

Furthermore you have upvotes and downvotes. You can sort after the likes etc.

Its several magnitude betetr than the feedback Forum of Path of Exile. What this forum needs is more moderation. Duplicate posts can be deleted. Rants can be deleted. Toxic posts can be deleted. This is feedback not a forum for rants. Most of the time they only remove insults in posts instead of the whole post. There were posts where the siupport had to remove every 10th word because it was insulting. Just outright delete the post. It wasnt feedback at all.

The best example of duplicate posts is the EXP penalty. Every 4th post here is about Death Penalties. U dont need this many posts about death penalties. Throw a sticky post to the top labeled Death Penalty. And delete all others or merge them.

I have to admit, the GGG forums are surprisingly, and unfortunately, among the most venomous. They’re full of toxic individuals who prefer to leave troll comments with little to no substance in their posts.

It’s similar to what you often see on Reddit, where certain forums or threads get overrun by toxic comments or low-effort posts. It honestly feels like some of these comments are being generated by bots, rather than real people just looking to get a reaction.

It’s like the conversation is being hijacked by automated noise, rather than genuine engagement.
