A strictly online multiplayer game that doesn't pause!?!? Well, that's new.....

you must be joking .. no?

this game is anything but multiplayer.

and NO, ppl playing on the same server is NOT multiplayer.

Just because many people, myself included, choose to play primarily or exclusively solo doesn't mean the game itself isn't always multiplayer. There is no single-player functionality built in to the PoE client--the client is fully dependent on the servers for the game to be played. It's that strictly online part that really matters.

While it's technically possible for them to implement methods of allowing pausing the client, all of them are incredibly bad ideas where server stability and performance are concerned.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.
No, aggro, it would not cause issues to pause moving/attacking entities in a LOCKSTEP instance, since they're already being micromanaged. How do you think Shaper freezing you and everything else works... (You can actually see issues with the server moving mobs these days, with them teleporting around as if they're running Predictive...)

Sending a pause command (with the delay being your latency to the server, obviously) with a resume countdown (See: DOTA 2's unpause) /re-pause cooldown wouldn't do jackdiddlyship to the servers. If anything they'd get a break when you were paused...

Playing solo. Is it really that complicated to understand. Even starcraft 1 had a pause button.. in multiplayer.

But around here everything is impossible. Cannot be done. Nope no way.

Yeah, I'm gonna head to Lioneye's Watch and pause the game.
Let me know how that works out for everyone else in that area.

It's certainly far from impossible to add a pause button. Not in lioneye's watch or anywhere else, if they wanted to. But i see what type of guy you are. You can have your negative beliefs. I know better.

Exactly, you know better. And given the number of supporter packs next to your name you of all people should know that this game isn't single player and doesn't need a pause button.
JFC.
Or simple give the players a 0,1 second grace time that is refreshed every 0,1 second while they are talking with zana, jun, betrayal, alva, etc...
Or simply grow a pair and L2P instead whinning about the slightest thing.

the game is made up of INSTANCES. they could pause that instance without affecting the whole server. it's very simple mechanic and very doable.
don't make excuses for them...

this is NOT about knowing how to play this game.

it's about some QOL.

since poe nicely put a NPC in the middle of some monsters, and the monsters ignore him, they could just as well make a mechanic for that "ignore" to transfer to you too when you talk to the npc.

or just freakin pause YOUR instance if you're the only player in it.
Well, you only have to step up your game. The Shaper knows how to pause the Instance - Why don't you?

QoL? Dont make me laugh. Go to Diablo 3 forum and ask why it doesnt have pause button as well.
