I've heard people swear by the charges but also people dismiss them as not accurate. Anyone know how accurate those numbers are and the uptime of charges?

Host Chieftain is kinda useless, power charges are minimal boost and you will never have them up with 1-2 host's while resummoning skeltons all the time. You barely have 3 frenzy charges up on skeletons with 3 carnage chieftains while resummoning.

I opted for:
2-3x Carnage Chieftain: Frenzy charges.
1x Merveil's Retainer: Vulnerability for 13% more damage.
0-1x Ruins Hellion: 30% less damage taken from taunted mobs and some damage.

Jesus, I had no idea that newly casted skeletons won't get the already stacked power/frenzy charges. Thats quite a big deal for me, since I cast new skeletons quite a lot and I suppose other people do that as well. Couldn't believe it, so decided to check. Sure enough. When having stacked power/frenzy charges newly casted skeletons don't have the blue/green "bubbles" circling around them. Can't believe I haven't noticed that before. Hmm.

I still believe they are the best option in boss fights where you don't summon that often. But for clearing they seem pretty useless. So I guess it comes down to what's most important. Clear speed or boss fights.

Ok, So I switched to Impale / dread banner, and although my DPS is much higher now on PoB, it doesn't feel like it.

Mapping seems to be slower then before, metamorphs and bosses maybe die a bit quicker but overall the time it takes to complete the map seems slower. need some more testing.

Is it normal that dread banner doesn't give any stacks?

Isn't that calculator for EB aka eldrich battery? We are not using that.

No, it's for MoM but it does take Eldritch Battery in for calculation:

IF you see here, the ES stands of Energy Shield and EB stands of Eldritch Battery, so for calculating MoM it will take either into calculation.

Also after a few days of trying Doryani, I don't feel confident that i'ts actually an upgrade to survibability, it feels like MoM is less effective due to 50% of the damage going thru the shield first, even though I can get a lot more shield, how effective is it actually when 50% goes through it? I'm going to pure MoM for a few days and see if I feel less squishy than before, after all it's only 4 nodes and I can get Deep Thoughts and Righteous Decree quite easily with those 4 points

So I was confused about this as well but that spreadsheet is absolutely assuming you have EB if you put any kind of energy shield into it. If you want to use it without EB then put 0 in that column and it just gives you your eHP against chaos damage (ES bypass). For eHP against elemental/physical you need to add your ES pool ontop of the eHP the spreadsheet gives you.

Question for you wizards on running both MoM and Doryani's. When I use Ghazzy's MoM calc, it shows i have the same effective HP with or without the bonus ES from Doryani. Does this mean that with this much ES, i am no longer getting any added benefit from MoM?

In this case chaos eHP is just HP + MP = 8196 because mana is too low (optimal = 2571). ES then needs to go ontop because of not running EB. For physical thats easy, its eHP + ES = 10123. It actually also seems to be the same for elemental. Doryani means 50% goes through ES outright but the other 50% gets reduced by however much ES there is before also being taken from your eHP pool. So its Damage to eHP = damage/2 + (damage/2 - ES). This caps useful ES at whatever your MoM eHP is, otherwise the overall eHP is again just whatever the sheet says + ES on top so 10123.

TLDR: If using Ghazzy's spreadsheet leave ES blank and add your ES onto indicated eHP to get overall eHP. Doryani is always beneficial unless you have more ES than indicated MoM eHP. Dropping mana nodes with Doryani will only be beneficial if you can use them to gain more ES than you lost in mana.

Yes, dread banner will not build stack because only YOU killing and not your minions build the stack.

If mapping feels slow, use Flame sentinels (great mapping) or Slave drivers (good mapping good bossing) for your spectres in that setup: spectres - meat shield - concentrated effect - spell echo.

Personally, I went away completely from the hosts spectres because my frenzy charges were very unreliable AND I feel completely comfortable with my DPS.

Thank you
Greetings,

ok...I know it is probably a dumb question and I know the answer (probably). But I have that nagging feeling:

When using a merveil retainer, you do not need vulnerability because the retainer casts vulnerability and I cannot cast a curse except if I have +1 because merveil's curse count against mine. right?....right? :)

So, what could I replace that curse for in my setup?

Thank you

By default you and the spectres each have a curse limit of one. Still, only one curse can be active at a time. Having both you and the the spectre casting the curse means the up time is greater, though. One will simply replace the other.

Personally, I don't find curses from spectres very useful since you can't control where the curse triggers. The same goes with curses in a CWDT setup with the further drawback that it rarely triggers.

I would keep the curse in the wand since it triggers where you want. What to do with spectres I'm more on the fence about. Host/chieftains for boss or slave drivers (or other pure dps spectres) for clear.

Ok, good to know, sorry for mis-informing.

Here is a dude talking about different spectres (carnage, hosts, ruins hellion, diabolists): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB1JguXHv14

What I get from it is:
Ruins hellion - relies of lots on lots of mobs for buff to activate, so bad when there is only a single boss
Diabolist - casts curse a lot but targeting is unreliable
Carnage & host - good for bosses

I saw that video and he doesn't mention the 30% damage reduction. I tried searching and can't get a clear answer. One website list the rallying cry skill that is similar to a gem. Another one says it has its own version that works as below.

10% increased Damage
Can be Attached for a total Duration of 8 seconds
Enemies Taunted by you deal 30% less Damage with Hits and
Ailments against other targets

Is anyone able to clarify?
