To all Archers! What is best, Evasion or Convert all Evasion to Armor?

Ah good to know, so actually the issue currently with evasion is more to do with not having good enough armour available than a problem with evasion itself as a mechanic, is that right??

Out of interest how does acrobatics work in relation to a pure evasion character??

Does the 20% dodge stack on top of your standard evasion or is it a seperate roll? Also is it effected in the same way by monster level or is it an unmodifiable permanent 20%?

Cause I was considering getting that when Im a tad higher to increase my survivability on Chaos.

If not guess Ill have to find some decent evasion - energy shield/armour hybrid gear.

Chance to dodge is completely separate from chance to evade.
Acrobatics gives a 20% chance to dodge, this is tested separately from evasion, and is not dependent on anything else. There is no other way to gain a dodge chance, nor any way to increase it.
Evasion is not dependent on monster level, either, so I am not entirely sure what you mean by that - chance to evade is only dependent on your evasion rating and the attacker's evasion rating.
The accuracy rating of monsters does increase in general as you fight higher-level monsters, if that's what you meant.

Pro: stuff
Con: Weak and crappy

Armour
Pro: stuff
Con: Weak and crappy

Block
Pro: Absolute best mitigation stat period. Far more powerful than all the evasion and armour from all your other gear combined, and gets enormous increasing returns from passive bonuses. Requires a 35% base block shield. All other shields are junk.
Con: Archers can't get it.

Personally, as an archer-ranger (HC) I pretty much ignore evasion/armour all together and take whatever I happen to get. If I don't avoid getting hit, I'd rather have +life. Then throw in a high damage bow and as much +movement speed as possible.

Today i bought this, please dont ask me the price. Was crazy expensive. The evasion rating is now 40% with 3100 rating. Later i will test it in merciless and chaos. I dont have no evasion passives. Maybe i will spend some points in that and see if evasion rating goes up more than 1%/2% per point.

GGG, wy not implement dextery based defensive support skills?

For example:

30% chance do evade
30% chance do dodge
30% incresed evasion rating
30% incresed dextery

AH ok thanks for clearing that up, out of interest are there any plans to change evasion to make it viable at the top end of the difficulty scale. As currently I can see how its useful but solo you'd get one shot (or two shot) killed quite often versus +Acc mobs.

Another Acrobatics style keystone called say 'roll with the punches' might be a good idea which gave you a based unmodifiable 20% DR but removed all armour and ES like acrobatics, it could function similar to dodge in that it didnt stack and wasnt modifiable. Coupled with high evasion armours this would mean you had slightly more survivability when up against high Acc ranged mobs.

Just a thought. BTW its awesome how you guys are so active on the forums, buy yourself and the team a round of drinks on me (ill pay you next time im over in New Zealand) !!

Since armor reduces damage taken from physical reflect, Iron Reflexes is the way to go. With Acrobatics I felt kinda squishy and could essentially instakill myself with MP Frenzy, with Iron Reflexes I leach enough life to spam into reflect groups. Based on this alone Armor > Evasion
are you HC or default? if HC id go with iron reflex it greatly improved my survivability when i made the switch.
