New Berserker - How it should have changed?

I'd just give zerk old vaal pact. Remember the one where it was leech at 40% value? Like 1.0-2.0 that was vaal pact...not the OP version most of you know... And make him apply to spells again.

Ah so we're relating this QoL change for the person playing the character to the character itself, eh? I don't believe so. The berserker is still fighting hordes of unspeakably disturbing and terrifying monsters, yelling as he relentlessly beats down his enemies before they can swarm him and tear him asunder. Yet why should he have to pause every two seconds for a timeout from said pummeling in a bloodlust for a standstill cast animation/strike a pose? There's too much thought put into that while in a rampage. I don't think that an instant war cry addition should be associated with laziness for our berserker friend at all, or some great quality of life that he loses all his tacklin' fuel for what was done to him and his people. The man is still smack dab fighting for his life in wraeclast, considered a mindless brute amongst his fellow exiles. I doubt a cast animation is key in changing his mindset.

Besides that, I think adding something unique with a bit more flavor as you previously described would be neat. If they don't though, I still don't see a problem with throwing on "warcries are instant" for him.
I played Zerker in SSF up to lv83. As a result, I understand that current Zerker is completely trash.

First of all, I decided that don't take rage node, because I think that 10% degen is so hard. So I took War Bringer first. Former War Bringer was really useful for the emergency recovery, but current it was not. Because it increases the rage. With that, Rage was kept to max always. Degen was hard even if 5%. To solve it, I took Pain Reaver and Cloaked in Savagery, but those were not useful. I had a leech rate as +100%, even so too slow. Reluctantly I decided that take Vaal Pact instead of dropping Regen, but I noticed that it was mistake soon. When can not leech, a life is lost strikingly. And, a losing always 5% of life per second is mean that leech late is decreased for that.

I planned to take Aspect of Carnage after this, but I no longer have energy to continue this build.

The rage mechanics does not match the existing skills. Degen by the rage breaks completely each skills synergy. Former Zerker was able to change a increasing damage by Aspect of Carnage to a power by Cloaked in Savagery with Vaal Pact. Certainly, a instant leech of 100% of damage was OP, so I understand to remove a instant leech from the game. But I can not accept degen by the rage at all. Current Zerker is nerfed doubly with that.

Did testers really test it? Maybe, Zerker is unfairly nerfed for meta controlling?

True that, I experience the same thing with my Zerker, tried out different setups and nodes, eventually i go with dual wielding claws because of the "life gain on hit" and its natural leech nodes. Still, the 10% degen (I went full rage) is madness, it's a constant race between me hitting mobs and me slowly dying.

I think if they change the "% life degen" into "take % of maximum life as physical damage over time" just like Blood Rage, then it leaves people options to mitigate such effect of degen, which is much more viable than tacking life regen as an attack-based character.
