trial of sekhemas cant be done as melee

There's a lot of stuff in the game that just feels punishing for a melee.

- Mana leech bubbles, flask leech bubbles, slowdown bubbles. Meaningless for ranged characters, dangerous for melee.
- A lot of "run away"-type of boss mechanics. Melee loses a lot more of DPS time to avoiding those.
- Homing fireballs and lightning thingies that are trivial to avoid for ranged, but if they get stacked, can do obscene damage on a melee.
- Trials is way tougher for melee. Floors 1 and 2 are pretty easy once you get a hang of it, and even on melee you can finish them with basically no damage taken. But floors 3 and 4 start to have stuff that is just almost impossible to fully avoid, you just have to take damage, and they can be hellishly hard on melee until you luck out with good afflictions.

And on top of all of that, melee skills just generally are worse. Storm Weave does more damage than Tempest Flurry. Shield Wall does more damage than any actual melee strike. And yeah let alone bow or elemental skills.. Even the single-target DPS on Poison Burst/Toxic Growth or a basic Arc Stormweaver is higher than any melee skill.

On bear druid, running around mobs and bosses with Walking Calamity + Rampage and appropriate rage generation is stronger than any actual melee skill. Like. I just don't. How? It must be a conscious design decision to make melee worse in every aspect, since every melee skill is worse than the commonly used ranged skills in every aspect from single DPS to map clear to ease-of-use to cost of the build. That can't happen by accident.

The trials are the worst part of POE 2. That being said, the first 2 are easy to do by simply over leveling. Just ignore them for like 10-15 levels and then just steamroll them.

Now when it comes to doing the trials in endgame for the last 4 points......may god have mercy on your soul.........rage inducing troll bait from GGG.

Unless you play the "correct" build, in which case, even T4 is easy.

Yes it can.
A lot of people always follow up this argument with

"Oh, it's easy once you know what to avoid, and you farm relics to get honor resistance, or if you just overlevel a lot"

But like... that's not fun. It basically means melee have to delay their ascenscion so much compared to ranged, because they need to wait for good RNG to avoid the bad modifiers / rooms, or overlevel a lot, or just do the trial several times in order to farm relics. Whereas ranged can just do it immediately, almost as soon as they unlock trials, without much difficulty.

These are not solutions, they're excuses. The fact that the experience is so vastly different between ranged and melee shows that this concept is just horribly balanced. All basic styles of builds should be more or less equally viable for core content.

Either they have to rebalance Trials of the Sekhemas to it's equally doable with melee and ranged, or they just need to rebuild it from scratch. It can't stay in this state where melee needs a bunch of extra steps compared to ranged.

Man everyone is buying the service in TFT discord to solve the issue.
Only few damn specific builds can do the trial and the devs failing to realise the system they build in the trials is just garbage and it make no sense to any normal human who want to enjoy a game.
I do pure melee all the time. Basic mobs have extremely slow and telegraphed attacks and you just not need to be greedy. Get 75% honor res before going for the tier 4 trials. It’s more Souls like combat than Diablo combat.

I do think armor needs to more aggressively protect honor and the mobs on the last floor can get pretty out of hand though.

Maybe add “regain X honor after each room” mods or give bonuses on floor completion based on remaining honor then refresh honor?

I will agree that the skill floor is a little high for the campaign version.

Chaos trial is completely whack though because all the modifiers are either ignorable or completely build bricking.
