PoE 2 Ascendancy Trials NEED to be reworked
As the title states, the ascendancy trials as is are genuinely unfun to play.I understand that the point is to have the big payoff of overcoming a massive challenge for super strong ascendancy points (which in some cases aren't that strong but that's a discussion for another thread) to feel super rewarding. The issue is that they aren't rewarding, they are unnecessarily punishing and the frustration of even getting to the floor boss overshadows over any satisfaction one might feel.
Keep in mind that is IF you even get any tokens you can actually use in the first place. Them dropping feels so scarce which gives the double displeasure of never getting them and then when you do get them your reward is playing a frustrating chore. There's so many issues like the afflictions being way too numerous and punishing, not being able to learn boss mechanics because if you die once then you aren't allowed to retry unless you have that 1 in 1 million currency drop (I've gotten 4 divines to drop and only about 6 usable djinn barya to drop), the honor system needs to go because it unfairly punishes anything that isn't a max evasion ranger build, and more. You want players to have a challenge for their ascendancy and I get that. But the challenge should be the floor bosses (which with the exception of the first one are a challenge enough). It'd be so much more enjoyable to actually acquire those points and be able to progress in a build without being ridiculously overleveled for trials and just skating by. I love this season and I have GGG to thank for that. Im excited to see what 0.4 brings. Hopefully ascendancy trials adjustments will be a part of that patch. we as a community need to stop saying this politely.
both trails are [Babyproofed by Support] and need to be replaced with entirely different systems. Zuletzt bearbeitet von JODYHiGHR0LLER#6171 um 13.10.2025, 18:40:21

My personal opinion is that there is no need to rework the trials.
Just need to make the trials have unlimited retries and not single one time use. 34pre98qua

I have done trials on 3 separate classes this season. 1 caster 1 range and 1 mele. Trials are a cakewalk. You can simply buy a trial token for dirt cheap.

As a (usually) melee player, I don't like the Trial of Sekhemas and wish I didn't have to do it. The honor system feels punishing for characters that invest anything into defense/regeneration/survival. This damage won't kill me, but I'll fail the trial.
That said, I've gotten more used to it, there's been some power creep (or loot creep if you prefer to think of it that way), and I find it much easier than I did at first. I think the Trial of Chaos is fine now that there's been some power creep. Sometimes I wish it would move a little faster. For some builds and luck, it's probably bad. I think players should be able to choose which trial to do at each tier as they go through the campaign and level up. And I look forward to you adding a new (hopefully better) trial, and giving players a choice of which of the three at each tier. Maybe you go to a place with three doors, or three portals, and you have to choose which way to go. For new players, maybe a guide standing next to each door, who can tell you what each trial is about, or maybe there's an optional tutorial mode they can transport you into where you can do a single room or something to get a feel for it, if you want to. |

" Everything is wrong with the trials. These trials should be, logically and ideally, suited for a very large variety of builds; GGG pride themselves with always saying how much build diversity their games have. As it stands currently, the trials are favoring only a few select specialized builds; it's as if the trials were ported over from POE 1 where only specialized builds ever attempt them......exactly what happened. RNG should not be a part of the trials. They should be challenging, but always fair......they are anything but fair atm. |

trials were hard at launch for alot of people and they are hard for newcomers. After you do them a bunch of times you will look back and cringe about complaining about them, they are pretty easy
