They have no time to be lazy, there another holidays in New Zealand they need to celebrate

You're right. It's almost October. That means it's only 3 months till New Years and their subsequent obligatory 4 week vacation. The prepatch announcement for 0.4 should be ready by May.

Yeah okay let's not wait until people play, let's just change everything as soon as it's more powerful than this guy's build (everything).

Let's attach an algorithm to the passives that makes them less powerful the more players pick them in real-time. That would be excellent, imagine people following builds quitting in droves. A real healthy place for the game to be at (sarcasm).

And let's listen to LeFlesh, one of the people who sits on every negative thread just posting fluff in response to everything.

Do you understand that there much time a huge gap between OP build and bugs\not indented interaction abuse ? for example: Lighting spear for some reason been consuming Frenzy charge not from cast point, but when projectile hit, GGG admite it them selfs that it was not indented on so many interviews already...??? where is the hotfix for that? Lighting rod seems to have almost same issue, they could hotfix lighting rod by giving it 0.1~0.2sec ICD. still viable but no overpowering every other skill in the game.

Yes I realise that unintended interactions with skills and other things exist. What's your point? Is there a specific example that has somehow affected your personal experience?

It is a problem if it is just turbo broken and subverts a bunch of investment then breaks the economy, or if it's just a better option than anything else. That is not what is happening though.

You are comparing yourself to players who have invested more in their characters and getting upset because you think you can never reach that level, so you want them to be brought down.

With enough investment, your build could also clear all the content they are. If it cannot progress, then you should give specific feedback on your own experience playing your build and how you'd like it to be better.

There is always someone playing a better build than you, and that's fine. As long as you can actually play the expected and valuable content with a reasonable amount of investment on your build, it's a good thing.

so uh....do people not realize the game is in BETA? Has that completely escaped this conversation?

The BETA is the exact place for semi-instant and frequent balance changes to happen. And if people quit over it....who cares? Its the beta.

The game isn't released.
Their goal is not appeasing and retaining the existing players.
Their goal is creating a game to appease, attract, and retain FUTURE players on release.

I don't agree that things should be INSTANTLY fixed: they could just as easily say "hey, in 5 days we are making changes to lightning arrow: buckle up".

If you opted into playing an Open Beta and you are ready to QUIT if your build gets changed mid-"league"......you misunderstood the product you bought and are currently playing. Because you didn't buy a game. You bought a pass to "test" the game. This was all quite literally spelled out to you before you were allowed to press "buy" on the beta key.

We literally aren't doing our jobs as beta testers if we weren't okay with 1) identifying outliers and 2) expecting them to be changed immediately and/or frequently. The open beta is better off with those folks quitting and playing a fully released game.

And frankly, GGG SHOULD be heavy-handed on nerfs, fixes, and patching: if it gets more people playing different things and testing a much broader part of the game.....THATS THE POINT. If 99% of the players are playing ONE build because it far exceeds anything else, it should be nerfed as soon as possible because GGG is losing valuable beta data to act on.

I'm inclined to believe that most people understand they are a part of a beta test and that nothing is permanent, even day to day or week to week...even if a few in this thread seem to have forgotten that little fact.

*Hey, say that 5x fast: "beta data"

It's a beta for a pve game, why are you so concerned about someone else's build?

The BETA is the exact place for broken things to be broken, we are multiple MAJOR patches away from full release, no need to rush. And if you decide to quit over it...who cares? It's the beta.

The game isn't released.
Their goal certainly isn't to piss people off.

If you opted into playing an Open Beta and you are ready to QUIT because TimmyFrom3000MilesAway has a crazy build......you misunderstood the product you bought.
The developers certainly know what they intend better than you do, if you can't handle that then take a break and come back when the game is fully released.

I'm sorry but this is the biggest load of waffle I think I've read since the beginning of the beta on these forums. I'm not even going to nitpick it apart because its just so.....fundamentally wrong and backward on nearly every possible level.

Well done!

Broken things hurt the entire game, even if you happen to be far too short-sighted and myopic to see it. That's pretty clear from that post. Ever hear of a car recall? Or a product recall? Sure, those also sometimes have a "safety" angle that warrants timeliness, but the same principles of "This could potentially be a wider problem, we need to tackle it now".

I will add one thing: there is a major difference between a "balance patch" and a "content patch", ESPECIALLY in a beta.

Balance should happen frequently and without mercy
Content should happen infrequently, with lots of preparation, testing, and balancing up until the moment its finally released.

Balance and Content patches are SEPARATE entities, sort of like the "Square is a Rectangle" saying: while content patches always have balance changes, balance patches should not and need not be tied to content patches.

We are multiple MAJOR "content" patches away from release, sure. But we should be HUNDREDS of balance patches away from release. Especially with GGG's history with balancing...

You do understand the irony in your reply, right?

Can you point me to a single POE one or two league that hasn't had something busted?
Every single class can be VERY strong right now. Power progression is the literal point of this entire genre.

If something's broken to the point where it's just better than anything else at a lower point of investment, then they should change it. When they release new content, as a meta-shakeup, to keep the game fresh, and to keep players trying new things.

They should not immediately nerf anything that gives you the feeling it's too powerful. That is just arbitrary, and it changes from player to player, depending on what type of content they enjoy and play, how far they prog, what build, etc.

This is what is actually happening in this thread. People are complaining because they think they will never push their characters to that level unless they switch builds and follow meta.

If your build cannot reasonably do the content, with a reasonable amount of investment, then that experience is something you should give feedback on. It is however, not valid to point at players who are more invested than you, who are following builds that have been really well optimized, that have been tested beforehand, and say- "my homebaked build can't do that". Well of course it can't. You haven't invested the countless hours into theorycrafting and actually grinding the gear, and your goal was not to do the same thing, it was to play your build and enjoy yourself. So go do that.
