Path of Exile 2 is Path of Exile 1 with Temporal Chains 100% of the Time.
After playing the Mercenaries league and having gotten back into POE1 Deeply, I figured I would take a bit and switch back to my POE2 char and see how it felt. It felt exactly like that map where "players have temporal chains" is a modifier. Its SLOW from the start. Movement speed is slow, even the sunder animation is slow. Everything is massively slowed down in some misguided attempt to slow down the players.
If you guys want to make a souls like game, do it. Make a game with 1/1000th of the mobs, a linear progression that can be easily tested to not be "zoomy" and each encounter can be a challenge. Dont make an ARPG & Souls Like game. They dont go together. They dont work at all. You either have to have slow and methodical and A LOT less enemies. (Which has been overdone and not interested) or you have to have a faster game. For the flamers, no my POE1 char is not a god nuking whole screens. He is fun though. I use cyclone for clear and double strike for bossing. I have prioritized his movement speed. But even my Holy Chieftain who uses Sunder of Trarthus moves 2x faster than any char in POE2. The speed is fine and I like it. Not the 1 min per map PoE 1 gazillion ms, as and cs and trillion bs happening on screen crashing your machine. Well, I juiced PoE 2 endgame to 2 FPS and survived on HC SSF and I think it is fine. xD I don't like the speed and clutter of the first game and I am glad PoE 2 does not go in this direction. BTW, you can be insanely fast in PoE 2, too.

I like the speed of PoE 2 and in campaign especially.
When it comes to maps in PoE 2, the zoom zoom one button screen clear is so stupidly boring that I feel like a trained monkey and simply have no goals to follow, game done. I believe there is a good reason why PoE 1 continues to be developed and that is exactly the speed/pacing/zooming difference between PoE 1 and PoE 2, as this exactly is the major thing separating the playerbase. So how about we would stop trying to push PoE 2 to be just a PoE 1 re-skin with the stupid zooming and put our trust into developers that created this amazing game, skills, monsters and moves.. There is no need to speed this up. Wanna zoom zoom? Go PoE 1, simple as that. I'm never going back to that nonsense. |

" Same. 8 years was enough for me. More than enough I would say. Hope they bring the best of PoE 1 to PoE 2, though. Plenty of good mechanics there, especially the crafting possibilities part, but only when content gonna require such and such power to be obtained and this and that way, not nearly impossible to get. " pretty much this i think the state of general mapping in poe2 is like this due to it being unfinished and way too random. If you play trials or even log books it feels way more manageable and fun, just like campaign. i talked about it in another thread: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3813822 |

I am preffer POE2 dynamic aswell. Game has some problems, but "action speed" is not one of them.

" Except you never played POE1. No achievements, n\o challenges, no MTX. So we all know how much value your opinion has. The numbers tell it all. |

" You are all wanting a souls like game in POE. Not possible. But then since you are the FEW that are left in POE2, its no surprise you are the diehards. You will ride the game all the way into the ground confident you are right, when you arent. |

" Absolutely, if they really crave a souls-like experience there's a bunch of suitable games, ARPGs geared towards fun and in-depth buildmaking are rare. |
