Average PoE1 build.

at least in poe1 its average, in poe2 you either run around with 10% movement speed or this.. the power difference is way worse than poe1

The biggest problem, as complex as their systems are, is they simply don't seem to know how to balance mob scaling right, so rather than getting creative with monster mods the end game is just "numbers go up" and either you now need 50% move speed and 100mil DPS to oneshot everything on screen or you get one shot instead. We have the most mechanically deep Diablo-like ever (short of Lost Ark and its raids) and they are still thinking with PoE1 brain, giving us not only cancerous rare mods that feel tedious or unfair but also making them zoom zoom and fight in ways that just feel like a gear and numbers game, entirely mutually exclusive to a mechanically deep vision.

Well said, I completely agree, and it’s unfortunate. I'd love to see them succeed where so many ARPGs today seem to struggle, Path of Exile 1 included.

I’d hate to see them take a path similar to Diablo 4, and bandaid the design (as it did with new level/paragon and the joke that is "the pit"). It would be refreshing to see them use this Early Access time to properly refine all of their numbers.

They seem to have had some (initial) success in this regard with the campaign for first playthroughs, but when you add in modifiers on passives, gear, and support gems, things inevitably get complicated. Sometimes, simplicity really is the best approach. Without using such a strong curve in their scaling for high end, it would be much easier to reduce other numbers while keeping a focus on those which are critical to player progression and clear speed/survivability.

Given the design of Path of Exile, managing such complex numbers and systems while finding a way to fine-tune them feels unrealistic to me, and it's for this reason, that I don't anticipate the copy/paste that is POE2 succeeding without an overhaul, you simply cant take a copy and then work it in another direction than one you have been going with for the last 12 years, its honestly just creating more work for yourself, they are going to need to start really considering some numbers in a lot of places should they seek to actually create something that aligns more with what they said this game would be. It’s difficult to see them making this vision work, as it doesn’t align with the game's framework.

If it ends up being more like Path of Exile 2.0 rather than a true Path of Exile 2, it will become clear that the game was split off primarily to attract a new player base through a marketing strategy. If that’s the case, I’ll lose all trust in the company, especially now that they’re under Tencent’s direction, which, no doubt, had significant influence on this decision.

Yup, agreed, it's currently an unbalanced mess, at least we can expect it to be not D4 or PoE1 like(it's the same) in the future.

Wish I could believe this. Hoping 0.2.0 gives us some proof they have a plan in place to hone in on the issues.

Seeing them acknowledge them in the "State of Early Access" post helped relieve some worry, but this is a case where the proof is in the pudding, so we will see.

If I had a $ for every time I was disappointed by companies not delivering, I'd have an island hideout in game.
