Game is Unbearable After Level 90 – Remove the XP Penalty!

I can’t progress past level 91 and it’s incredibly frustrating. I spend hours grinding for minimal XP gains, only to randomly die and lose 10% of it. It’s maddening.

To all the hardcore players who say "Get better, your build isn’t good enough," here’s the reality: I have 100k base DPS (which can go up to 270k), all my resistances are capped, CI, 6k ES, and Grim Feast x2. So, seriously, spare me the advice.

It’s just not fun anymore. Every time this happens, I end up quitting. Even using waystones to farm maps feels like a chore instead of something enjoyable. Having to suffer every time I enter a map, yeah, that’s real fun, right? What a mess of game design this is!

Why can’t they introduce a SOFTCORE league where XP loss is removed? Dealing with this nonsense is exhausting.

I’m completely fed up with it.

You died to "The Arbiter" and then complain about the EXP loss?
He is THE end game boss atm. He is not meant to be farmable for everyone and if you do so you make sure that you probably won't die and/or don't care about the potential EXP loss.

Just removing a core mechanic of the game because you don't like and/or understand is weird.

Not every player/character/build/whatever is meant to be able to do everything. This is "Path of Exile" and not "Diablo 4" where you can clear the entire game in 2 days with basically every character.

Calling it a "mess of game design" is utterly wrong, it's not a mess - it has it purpose, function, meaning and works as intended. That you don't LIKE it, that's your valid view, but that's subjective.
POE games being more difficult than Diablo doesn’t mean XP penalty should be trivialized. POE1’s endgame difficulty is precisely why the penalty matters, and POE2 making it too lenient takes away a core part of the challenge. More content being added isn’t an excuse to ignore proper balance. That said, I fully agree that QOL improvements should be prioritized.

Try to die less :)

Totally agree with you and many other players are thinking the same way, at least new players and casual player. But if they target players are again Poe1 players and if they keep running the game like this, probably it should be better to go and play another game, in that way they can have their niche players again. GGG have been running the company with that playerbase, so it does't matter, It will be a clear message that PoE 2 is not a game that many player can enjoy.
As you say and because they promoted Poe 2 as something for everyone, it is incongruous to put in a mechanic that causes you to lose experience that only a masochist would like. According to what I investigated, Poe 1 is a niche game and Poe 2 was announced for casual players, which is why Tencent invested. If they really want the game to remain massive, they must give options so that the game moves as far away as possible from the hardcore mechanics.
+1 this, the amount of random 1 shot deaths is absurd, i believe the game has a built in auto death timer designed to keep you playing. Theres no logical reason for any of the random 1 shots, it could be the floor or something offscreen. I would not recommend this game to anyone and urge people to stop spending money on this game until this is addressed. Everyone should be sending emails to the support folks as well.

Where was PoE2 announced as a game for casuals? And no, Tencet "invested" in 2018 where they bought GGG and only got the last few shares last year. They actually invested in PoE for PoE.
