Dear GGG: Armour is trash! If you are going to fix it do it better than PoE1. Here's how!
" GGG does not want you to. They hate that you use it. They still don't realize that it's THEM forcing players to use it, because decent players NEED it to path their way to be even ABLE to play Endgame. |

Interesting...thanks for the response.
Not sure...as it seems open-source, right? Are there articles or something? I thought the community devs made it no? What's wrong lol? --- But ya...I'm also curious of OP's response too..but we'll see if they reply back. Curious of the way they do maths...lol. ---- "NEED" is a strong word but I get wut u mean. I tried Simulacrum today on my Merc using armour/eva gear and got an Armour break mode at lvl 13 or so. It was a thight space 30 mobs and I can't murder everythig as it spawns so they killed me. Icing on the cake is that Witch hunter ascendancy aoe does not work in Simulacrum either.
I guess no Simulacrums for me then. |

" I would simply say that it mitigates _nothing_ at all. A lvl 14 sorceress with 100 hp/500 ES can facetank a slam from level 14 boss (The count) with barely taking a hit to ES. It kills level 20 warrior or merc with 900 hp\65% armor outright. |

" Armour is useless right now, but that doesn't math up. The Count slam must have also crit against your warrior too. Zuletzt bearbeitet von LVSviral#3689 um 27.01.2025, 03:03:37

I think Armour should have some elemental mitigation and that would make it good. Either have it mitigate a set % the physical %, or have armour completely be a flat # reduction and then elemental counts for that too.
I came into the game blind and leveled a sorc using the str/int pieces because I had been told that PoE gave you ultimate freedom and such, and so I was like "awesome this will let me play into my class fantasy and not rope me into playing with cloth armor as a caster, I'll finally get to play an actual Battle Mage". So i'd look at the armor tooltip it gave me saying i'd get this amount of physical % reduction. Then I'd get smoked by boss 1 shots while I was learning the fights. Then as I progressed I'd get smoked by some of the swarm mechanics in breaches that you can't full screen clear instantly until you get to a certain power level. Then i'd get smoked by the rituals literally spawning packs under your feet, again overwhelming until you reach a certain offensive threshold. I was happy that my character looked the part with the bucket helm and chain/plate chestpiece, but I just didn't feel like I actually survived well. Then I broke my self imposed media blackout when a Kripparian "armor sucks" video came up in my algorithm and boy were my armor dreams shattered when he went on to describe that the stronger a blow is the WORSE armor actually was for you. Like what? My metal breastplate is susceptible to "crushing blows"? Isn't that anti-everything that armor represents? The devs trying to simulate that a huge blow can cave in armor, yet at the same time the world wants you to accept that putting on a piece of equipment can make me attack faster, or that it adds magical damage to my attacks? I was eventually forced to get off the str/int and into the pure robes because I needed the raw ES to actually live since 25% armor didn't actually do much for me and didn't play into the defense role my class pigeon holed me into with its nodes. Just dumb. If you're going to play it like that, then Armour needs to only absorb a flat amount from every attack you take with everything beyond that value goes to your health and everything under it hits you for 0. If it is going to absorb a %, then it needs to be a single pure flat% across the board. On top of that, why is Armour physical only? If a mage throws a ice bolt at me and hits my breastplate, what gets hit first, the plate or my body underneath it? Resistances should be counted as if you were taking a hit to naked skin. That is your body's natural resistance. Then actual armor on top of that mitigates stuff before your body does. THAT should be the point of armor and a pure armor character mitigates the fact that they're for sure going to be taking some damage on larger hits by the fact that they have HP leech and probably support gems made cheaper for flask benefits. Not the potion popping that you see in Diablo, but still. Evasion for pure avoidance but you still take a chunk when it doesnt work. Energy Shield for pure taking the full hit, with the shield regenerating after not taking damage for a time. Armor for mitigating hits down, with leech and regeneration being the bridge. |

" 100%. It's super weird thematically AND poorly balanced that armour doesn't do anything against elemental+chaos hits too by default. It also makes sense that armour should apply to all damaging hits before resistances. |
