POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

The hard crash bug that locks up the entire OS and requires manual shutdown by pressing the power button has been around for more than 2 months.

There is still not a fix in sight...

GGG is still blaming Windows 11 24H2 for it despite the fact that we are having this issue on Windows 10 too... (and Windows 11 23H2, and Linux...)

Once again I'm bumping with these questions, in hopes that maybe they will get answered by GGG's official staff:

1) What went wrong?

2) What you are doing to fix it?

3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem?

4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds)

5) What is your estimated time of fix?

6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period?

7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue?

8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game?

To other paying customers like me who have spent their money on this faulty product:

As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.

[Removed by Support] They've fixed the issue for some people, again with the entitlement in this thread, it isnt fixed for you personally so they've done nothing right?

As I responded to you pages and pages ago when you begging everybody to review bomb the game, this issue is obviously multiple different issues that are appearing the same, it is not an easy fix, be happy they've "fixed" the Win11 24H2, we can keep posting in this thread to say the issue isnt resolved for us but it is resolved for some people so why is this them lying? (Again entitlement because it hasnt fixed your specific problem so the company are lying?)

Please can you stop spreading lies, I said it in the other thread to somebody else, when they patch they communicate and update threads, To make such a bold claim that GGG dont care when we are paying customers is laughable at best, they clearly care otherwise they wouldnt of been working on a potential fix which has worked for some and not for others. Its early access and a computer game, your life doesnt revolve around it so you dont need to get this invested, 100+ posts of "YOU MUST REVIEW BOMB THEM"..... painful

Yet it is still not solved, but it seems like they removed it from the known issues page, meaning they no longer see it as an issue. If the issue according to them was still there then there would have been no point in removing it.

Some things I've noticed during all of this that may be of help, if they ever bother to read these threads.

Some (actually most) boss fight are extremely demading for the cpu. And the CPU usage and fans go crazy. A good example is the big skeleton dude in the middle who slams his head in the ground that nobody ever dies from.

I've noticed that transitioning right after such a fight have a much higher than usual chance of freezing the computer. Tabbing to windows right after such a fight makes the computer calmn down fast, and that can help reduce the chance of freezing.

Bigger maps and towns with players in them seem to cause freezing more frequently.

Transition to a map, and then transition back again in a rapid fashion seem to trigger the freeze pretty easily.

Tabbing to windows/desktop when the cogweels stop spinning seem to help the game recover from the total freeze in many situation.

Playing in windowed mode seem to have a positive effect but its hard to tell.

Latest patch seem to have a positiv effect when transitioning between zones, but now instead I have experienced freezes and total lock ups from opening the caravan map or teleporting between waypoints.

Disable multi-threading befor any load always works. Still have never crashed using this method. Adding a --disable-mt-on-load launch option to the game would most likely solve 99% of freezes.

Hello again everyone.

As the patch notes mentioned; there is a temporary fix regarding this for users on Windows 24h2 (26XXX) in the current build of Path of Exile 2 (It will be backported to PoE 1 when that receives a client patch).

For those who haven't had any success related to a full PC freeze/crash when multithreading is enabled please once again send me your dxdiag output and adding --ex-crash-report to your launch options (if you only experience this on DX12). The engine team are working with both NVIDIA and Microsoft to sort any issues that we cannot reliably fix.

Thanks again and please keep this thread civil so support doesn't have to lock this as there is lots of useful information.

Hello Timothy. Thank you for your time.

Could you please confirm that you have talked with the developers about how this is affecting operating systems beyond Windows 11 24H2?

This is the key issue here. From the start, the other operating systems are not mentioned at all. Windows 10 is also experiencing this issue which means that any interaction with Windows 11 24H2 is not the main reason behind the hard crashes.

Because the hard crash issue is now completely removed from the Known Issues we cannot know if, from the start, they have had the mistaken belief of how this only affects Windows 11 24H2.

Also we are being asked to risk our computers by GGG, as this hard crash is a hardware damaging issue, was there no other way such as an in-house replication of the bug than this?

Finally, you have said that the thread must be civil. And I agree. If you look at the thread there are only some people who are calling others names such as "entitled", "liars", or "McDonalds", "KFC"-which I think differentiates itself from McDonalds by being also racist, "average Joe" in an attempt to bait for fights. In a weird way these people also manage to avoid getting banned, despite the fact that I've been banned 3 times for "being overly negative" due to the fact that I was correctly stating this was not a Windows 11 24H2 issue and seeking answers from GGG.
I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.

Did this work for you?

I tried it, nope. it does not fix the issue for me at least.

Im trying out different things now. The latest patch did work for some, so I want to believe that there is some combination of settings that will also work for me. Right now Im testing playing in windowed mode. Probably wont work, but I have nothing else to try.

Did you look at your virtual swap file settings? On a fresh install, mine was set to a specific 4GB, and when I looked at event viewer, I saw a lot of memory leak/out of memory errors. I adjusted it to 1.5x minimum and 3x maximum my ram size, and that fixed a lot of crashing for me. Hope it helps you.

Yeah, I'm recently experiencing this on windows 10. I made a detailed post about my issue. I don't want to hard crash my system anymore. I'll wait on playing until I hear about this being acknowledged and fixed.

I don't get who makes such decisions.
So PoE 1 people will have to wait more weeks/months until it gets deployed for them....
