To expect that even 1million hours of play and not spent money at all (or in this specific case enough to hit a specific spending threshold) and expecting a free ‘hand out’ is not.
If you couldn’t afford the expenditure that’s fine and your right, but you can’t expect the best of both worlds.

Do you think such contributions should mean something or no?

I think they should be considered by developers as well as many other metrics when making these decisions, Runescape has a 10 year cape for example, some developers appreciate these contributions.

Secondly, it's not 30 dollars for JUST the early access, which everyone who's being remotely honest with themselves knows GGG could have very easily gotten away with. They're giving you $30 worth of points alongside it. The EA is literally free if you're ever intending to buy MTX or stash tabs in the future.
