I've been trying to get a 21/20 vaal summon skeletons with temple. Failed so far and have only gotten a 20-20 vaal.
Although that still seems to be better than 21-0, since going from 11 to 12 skeletons gives 50% more dps boost than going from level 26 to level 27 according to POB.
Is my math correct? Obviously the end goal is still a vaal 21/20

It is better to have overall stronger skeletons than to add an extra skeleton that could be body blocked by the rest of your minions.
I have just made a bigger update to the guide to implement the new Svalinn shield (Which is fucking OP) and adjusted all of the skill trees, a few items & PoBs.
Insta leech has been removed but adding in 70-90% attack & spell block makes it worth it.
Damage has dropped as well with around 20%, again worth it for the massive block chance.
The build will feel a lot more tanky than previously.

I had a question on this and then another additional question. I saw your guide updated as well.

#1 So I'm entering red maps and I have the hungry loop setup and AG as well. Any recommendation on when we should switch to the Svalinn Shield?

#2 For the immortal call with the increased duration and cast when damage taken, is it okay to make them all level 20? I know that sometimes I hear to only level cast when damage taken to a certain point. ?

Build is coming along great so far!

Thanks for your feedback so far. I've been trying the new svalinn build and its already a lot tankier even though my setup isn't perfect yet. However I'm running into a new problem now where my zombies aren't tanky enough in juiced content anymore.
My character, AG and skellies and spectres with the 4s immunity will be fine, but if I'm running t17s or juiced exile t16s the zombies get shredded.
Any solutions to this? Should I just drop the zombies for this type of content and add another support gem to skeletons? Or switch up something else? Otherwise I'll just keep resummoning, but that does cost quite a lot of clear speed.

1. Get Svalinn if you have enough +1-2 minion skills to reach the lvl 25 gem breakpoint. (+2 helmet, +1wand, +1 boots, lvl 21 gem)

2. Yes we want lvl 20 gems for cwdt and immortal call. We use endurance charges as a defensive layer which immortal call removes. So we only want it to remove them after taking a lot of damage.

To improve your zombies survivability you can:
Get a +2 wand
Get drop sapped ground on your boots (brittle is basically useless for the build)
Replace awakened minion damage with lvl 3 or lvl 4 empower.
One of your jewels needs to have minions have a chance to taunt on hit, this is 10% less damage to you and all other minions that have not taunted the enemy.
Make sure you use enduring cry for the life regeneration.
You also want stun & block recovery on one of your flasks for your own survivability.

Your covenant only has +2 to socketed duration gems, this does nothing for zombies. Get a +2 socketed minion gems covenant or +1 socketed.

You mentioned you updated the tree. I looked on maxwell under the leveling and and under your "DA annoint poison jewels section" and didn't see a change. Do we need to look under the actual POB link?

The tree is changed, make sure you look at the fully leveled tree. You see it by going to progression page and then opening the skill tree.

got it thanks. I was doing great with bosses in red maps, but the crimson township boss kept wrecking me. Now I know why you have immunity to corrupted blood and bleeding on your life flask. There were 2 unique bosses and 60% less flask recovery and that of course didn't help lol. Gonna try and roll that life flask tomorrow.

I said it before and I'll say it again, this is by far the best build I have ever run, especially after the shield update. I'm not use to running juiced T16s and having my health bar rarely taking a hit. NO spectres lost, no zombies lost etc...

The crazy thing is that I'm only in the beginning stages of the "mid game" upgrades on the maxroll guide. I can only imagine how much stronger it will get once all of those upgrades and end game upgrades are in place. I have never done uber bosses before, this might be the first build I will try them with.

I'll admit, I was skeptical of this in the beginning because you don't see Necro getting much love this league compared to other builds. The last 3 leagues I ran decent popular builds, but all of them were squishy as fuck. It's just so nice to be so tanky and not dying. Yea I'm sure I'll still get one shot now and then from some OP monsters, but this is leaps above everything I've ran in the past. This might be my first character ever that I'm able to get to level 100. Not bad for a casual gamer in his 50s :)

And for the record, no, Hoffen isn't paying me to say this :)
