GGG can you PLEASE explain the changes to Essence Drain?

Why do you need somebody to explain to you why the patch about buffing spell hit damage buffed the hit damage of ED and not the DoT? What did they do with Cold Snap, Creeping Frost, Soulrend, Exsanguinate, Reap and Vortex? They buffed the hit damage and didn't touch the DoT. I think the only spell that got a buffed DoT was Fire Trap but that's because trap supports were heavily nerfed and they mentioned buffing the base trap gems to keep them at about the same level. And then Flame Dash, for some reason.

"Welp Timmy, next week moar cooties. Moar! Cooties! *makes Mr. Yuk face* But not a lot more. We got to save some for later."

there's literally noone playing hit based ED but it's a buff, even it it's a useless one

If you donno the answer as well, you don't have to start personal attack to make you still seems cool and smart for yourself.

So, do you know why GGG made a change to ED that has no use?

exactly!

That's why, I think they simply copypasted dmg calculation formula on EXCEL then made change on spells WITHOUT actually thinking about their own uniqueness, this is more like a perfunctory method to "show" players that they are balancing skills.

I'd rather they don't, and use the time on something they have attention to finish, e.g. more test on altas passive tree b4 it get rekted on day 1 of the league.
It will partly be to compensate for the nerf to added chaos damage support, for anyone who was using that with ED. Don't know if anyone is scaling hit-based damage on ED but I guess it keeps the option open

actually in the skill gem feedback thread of ED, there is someone who suggested that one alternative gem quality could be changed to nerf its dot and strengthen its hit dmg. This could be a better solution than this change on 3.17
It could be better for hit-based builds if it was in addition to the 3.17 buff, but otherwise a change that leaves the DoT element the same and buffs the hit element is strictly better. Alt quality doesn't usually boost a damage component by 50% by itself.
im genuinely curious why sometimes they make changes like that why buff dot dmg by 1-2 dps what difference does it make how do they come to conclusion this exact skills need 2 dot damage buff
