I'm doing ok on dmg in T16s but Ultimatums are getting very rippy with oneshots, so I'm switch to shield, is replica mistwall the best option or is a mana on block setup better?

@ChemistHCSSF Hey, thanks for the great guide, read your "(1.2)Why this over other iterations of BF/BB?", really interesting and made me want to roll a Raider, but what do you think of Hiero Archmage BFBB vs your Raider? (e.g. BrittleKnee version https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/archmage-bladefall-blade-blast-hierophant and Darkee is levelling one right now).

" Glancing blows screams dies to shotguns, it was nerfed to the point where it's quite bad. It's very important one of your primary layers leads to a 70%+ chance to avoid spells and attacks entirely. This is what protects you from things like porcupines and ultimatums in general. If you don't have that you will simply not be able to tank large packs of mobs hitting you multiple times. To clarify, hiero is better than inquis for sure. Though it's not good for the current league mechanic. You have to ask, what made the hcssf builds good, what did they have in common. 1.) Champion hit based slams -Fortify, effective against big hits and little hits a like. Further scaled with crush helm and nodes -Amour stack to deal with many small hits at once -Max spell block as your preventative layer with a saffel's frame -Recovery on block 2.) Necro DD -Fortify and basalt paired with endurance charges for physical hits -Max block and spell block -Essence Glutton + MoM for recovery against many hits at once and large hits -Large Life, ES pool and mana pool to compensate low armour values to deal with phys -open defensive flask slot for a basalt/granite/jade/quartz via essence glutton replacing mana flask -Recovery on block 3.) Gladiator bleed base -Fort, huge armour -overcap block/spellblock -Recovery on block -immortal ambition/divine flesh to deal with degens As you can see all three of those had (nerfs happened) one massive preventative layer and actively solved the biggest killers in PoE, many small/medium physical hits and huge ele hits from bosses. Hiero does not accomplish this with glancing blows. people will occasionally bring up slayer, who does not have preventative layers but has won tournaments/races. People would go champion for mapping and swap to slayer for dangerous bosses like ubers, a8 sirus and maven due due to bossing not requiring preventative layers rather you want the ability to take one large hit. Slayer can do this, but if you throw it into rippy maps it can easily die without very careful play despite being able to tank well over a 150k phys hit. Hopefully this clarifies layers for you. " Because you want your skills to cost more mana due to the mechanics of archmage. |

" for ults mistwall is better, for bossing shaper shield. You can also just do a weapon from mistwall to another sceptre for bossing. It's preference, make sure your run a rumi's with a shield. |
