I haven't played poe1 for many leagues now, but I came back to mercenaries league just to do the full atlas for the kirac vaults pass because i love the shaper rewards hehe. I borrowed a full set of gear from an old friend who still plays this build every league, so I can confirm it still works. Check my character or check the POB linked in the video I did when I last updated the POB, the video is still up and still linked in this post. And no you don't need the nimis ring etc, I just went full out on gearing when I last played, so that's what I ended up with. To combat mana problems, just use any decent rare rings and bench craft the -7 mana cost to non-channel, to them. One ring can manage it (that's how I am able to use nimis), but 2 of them makes it easier to manage early on.
