are you sure that the only third party software he use is the trade macro. are you 100% sure?

I'm amazed that more people aren't saying this.

Your "friend" is most likely lying to you to try to save face.

Maybe they had a flask macro installed. Maybe they had a life-detecting logout script. Maybe they had maphack. Maybe they had a script that detected items from the trade API and then whispered trade messages without any button presses necessary! (yes, those are against the rules)

I don't know, but I do know that the reputable PoE trade macros all make sure to be 1-server-action-per-button-press just as GGG support has always made sure to indicate is the only legal form of macro in this game.

Now, is your friend definitely lying to you? No, but if they're not lying, they should be the one taking it up with GGG support in some massive reddit-fueled battle, detailing exactly what they've downloaded and how they've used it. You defending them in some puny forum thread when you obviously can't know the whole story just looks bad for both you and your "friend".

I just recently installed a trade macro

You did what now? You don't install trade macro. It's a script that runs with Autohotkey.

Anyways, Op's friend is a liar. Something else going on here.

slightly off topic question:

is it against the tos to use pieces of Cardboard and Tape to glue the 1,2,3 Key together? to drink 3 flasks simultaneously ?!?

( not even talking about a software macro here.)
It's usually a popsicle stick and yes... it violates the one action per keystroke rule.

Yep. Still one user action leading to several server-side actions (use 3 flasks with 1 finger input).

Edit: ninja-ed!

Is having fat fingers bannable? Assuming that you can press more than one key with a single finger?

I am ok with GGG banning trade macros...as long as they also ban macros for instant-logout. Fair is fair.

while i agree with the spirit of this, alt+f4 is just one command, so it wouldn't logically apply.

but yeah, i'd be with with alt+f4 being removed.

PS: Both console versions of PoE have an auction house. Frankly I find that comedic, but your mileage for unintentional irony may vary.

They do, but without the same degree of ease of search of the pc version. You have to scroll through much longer lists of items to find what you want. They just moved the point of inconvenience on consoles compared to where it is on pc.
people have been using poe trade macro for years, many use it live on stream, nobody ever got banned for it

either your friend is lying to you about what he used or you're not telling us the whole story
