EU Latency/Connectivity Issues [Deutsche Telekom/1&1]

My char is in hardcore, i cant play until this is fixed. Wtf is going on? Why is nobody reacting on this?!

Because they can't likely do anything about it. As I mentioned in another thread, the connection issues from DTAG customers seems to be a peering issue. Problems of that kind aren't solved over night (or days, or weeks, in case of Telia/Telekom even over years). GGG has limited options on this (if their provider even offers one) and a solution (like a better uplink to the DTAG network) may be expensive. Don't expect Telekom to do anything about it, their peering problems exists for years.

I really hope my guesses are wrong, actually I can't do additional teste because of work.

A solution for the DTAG connection issues could be using a VPN like HideMyAss. They have several server in Berlin in FRA which don't rely on the DTAG network. Telekom support suggested that a few months ago, as I had other peering issues with Telekom via Telia and it worked.


In short: If you have heavy connection issues on EU-Gateways, but Washington works, try VPN. You may have to pay between 5-10€ per month, but it should bypass the guessed peering issues. Most good VPN provider have trial accounts, so test it out (will test it in the evening, currently at work).

Please note: Everything written in this post counts only for Telekom connection issues (and Provider using the telekom network, like 1und1) and is based on the assumption, bad peering is the culprit for the connection errors.

Even if you're right, @PotaHari, id still like an explanation from ggg on the manner.
The issues are not permanent, they come every now and then and petsist for weeks.
Also, no other computer games are affected, just poe.
I think its the minimum after having supported this game since beta, instead of ignoring the issue.

Ive been playing even this league without problems up until lvl 80. since last week, the game is unenjoyable though.
I'm 100% sure that the problem is on ggg end.
If you read the forums here and on reddit, you see that countless people have similar issues.

I really understand that. As you can see, I also invested some euro into the game, and I would invest even more, if I could play properly.

The way they handle/communicate this issue is ridiculous. In fact other games are also fighting with peering problems, as you can see in the blizzard forum. League of Legends, Guild Wars 2 etc. hat similar problems since 2015, but got them solved. Even Sites like Reddit or Imgur are affected, as you can read here:

"Because they can't likely do anything about it" isn't exactly right. Hetzner Online, for example, offers extra paid direct uplink to DTAG.

Okay, I think this is going too far, peering is a very complicated topic but I think there is no other explanation for the connection issues telekom customers are facing.

I should stop guessing here and wait till I tested VPN connections in the evening.

Let me know if it worked out for you, i might try it out as a zwischenlösung.

Greetings, i am curious, anyone in Germany having this Problem with high lag spikes/Ping and is in the Telekom / T-online web,

pls have a look in your routers Log if there are any entries about (Denial of Service) entries or other suspicious entries that your routers firewall blocked.

i think there are attacks, Port scanners/DDOS going on, at least thats what my current issue is, still trying to find out if that is maybe causing the Ping spikes,

i got the same problems with Vodafone (KabelDeutschland) btw....

since league start, this ping spikes start every day around 3pm and 4pm (pm mid day?) and end around 10-11pm (i hate this pm/am shit) in the evening.

all that shit started one hour after league start

last league everything was fine, no problems at all. Same provider, same router, same LAN cable and identical WinMTR results to FFM, Netherland, Paris, London and Milan.

And this league is a great f.... (see my last post on page 42) on every single day.

i like this game but enough is enough. I give up.

As a French player, i've got the exact same issue.
The game is unplayable since the league is released.
I've got constant lag spike.

Other games run fine...
