I really didn't want to use them because they can't seem to damage things at close range. However, I have gotten used to it and with good positioning and use of Convo they work well pretty much everywhere except vaal cities in delve where things are constantly leaping on them.

I use;
GMP, Vic Proj, Min D., spell echo, EDwA, spec (3B, 2G, 1R)
Hatred, geno, skitter, precision
Zombie, meatshield, frenzy, ele army (meat shield zombies taunt helping keep things away form specs)

TDLR:
Countless hours testing specs and S. Ops feel the best in end game.

Is Diadem Cirlet mandatory (her guide says required)? Could someone suggest an alternative helmet or stat to look for that is more affordable as I would like to switch.

Hey, would advice you to watch the new Video on Kays YT Channel and switch to that, its basicly the League Starter Build with different gloves. Im almost insta phasing Sirus on Awakener 8 and Cortex is also oneshot.

Wait for a update on the new Heist Spectres until the theorycrafters figure it out and then swap to the new & updated build.

I actually went specter + spiders to start off, and I would highly recommend you just go pure spectres just because of how strong Syndicate Operatives are. I eventually swapped to just spectres and the clear suffers a tiny tiny bit (SO's still have very fast clear speed), but your single target goes up tremendously.


EDIT: Just to add on, you don't need a Devouring Diadem if you're going to be running just spectres. One of the biggest reasons to running it before was because it gave you the mana reservation to use Haste aura as well, which was pretty essential for the slow attack speed of Redemption Sentries. But Operatives have very fast casting times, so it really isn't necessary.
