Is there an alternative to Tornado shot using bow?

Hi people,

I just got back to PoE after a break and I wanted to play Ranger with a bow. When I saw the thread with current builds I either saw that there is no bow in Ranger's hands or that it is Tornado Shot with or without Barrage.

I know it is silly reason, but I do not like Tornado Shot. Is there any build with bow at the moment that is not using it for clearing maps (including late game maps). If not, why is there no alternative? Are all other bow skills bad or is it just the state of bows/Rangers in general?


Sorry if this was already asked or in the wrong subforum.
If I haven't dig deep enough, please let me know so I can search a bit more tonight or if it hasn't been answered and this is the right place to ask then I would appreciate people who can answer me.

Lightning Arrow and Ice shot are still really good. Tornado Shot is just great because it scales insanely well and it is good on bosses so you dont need a secondary barrage set up.

I was looking at the numbers, but I know numbers can be deceiving.

Level 20 gems:
Skill / Damage Effectiveness / Damage Multiplayer
LA: 119% 119%
IS: 147% 146.6%
TS: 109% 109%

I guess LA scales from physical, lightning and you should calculate in shock value in it.
Also important is that it hits 3 enemies at the same time for full damage.
Quality of the gem also adds to shock.

IS
I guess IS scales from physical, cold and you should calculate in that enemies get frozen which is always useful.
It also hits enemies behind. How many?

I guess TS scales from physical only?
It also splits to additional three targets. Also with additional projectiles it splits to more additional projectiles which then hit same target and that is why I guess all people use it?

So where does that scaling from TS comes in? What am I looking right/wrong? I am ready to be educated!

Also, since I already said that numbers lie, I would like to understand bigger picture. If anyone can educate me hot to look at these stuff. I will try to experiment myself. I would love to have my own builds, but to do that I need to understand stuff like this perfectly.

Using deadeye as an example
All skills can chain once with deadeye
La cheapish enchant with it can hit 4 additional enemies, pretty good skill

Ice shot high damage with one free chain its good, aoe from the cone i guess on avg might hit 2 enemies, hard to say you could look in path of building to check what your aoe would be

Tornado shot, why ts is so good is that multi proj is a lot of dmg in poe. You get 5 total proj with the helm enchant, and then many people also use rigwalds quills for free fork.
Downside is it's very expensive to get all that but the playstyle is very smooth run near mobs fire once or twice everything dies from the huge no of projectiles rinse/repeat.
Also if your in hc or want a large life pool you can use kaoms and not need a second 6l for barrage.
And life gain on hit is very powerful with ts since theres so many projectiles.
