[3.1] Icy Siege Ballista

Just wanted to quickly drop by and tell y'all I actually made it happen: Siege Ballistas entered 3.2! I've built the character as a Scion with Raider + Chieftain. Currently level 74 and counting. :)

Will write a new build-guide on the Scion sub-forum soon-ish once I have everything figured out. What I can say already is that it feels and plays much, much better than in 3.1. Hyrril's really gives us the edge DPS-wise as we do not really need quivers with +1 arrows thanks to 'Rain of Splinters'. Just wanted to build some hype before I drop the bomb. ;-)

I have yet to see Raider's Way of the Poacher proc Frenzy Charges or Watcher's Eye proc Onslaught while using the Ballistas.

Is there confirmation that these still work with SB with the new update?
Hi friends, I've been trying out a variant of this build (with Scion) and I was wondering, as this is my first Totem build ever, how do you deal with the ballistas being so squishy? Sometimes in maps they just die before they can even attack once, and some packs of mobs are hard to deal with as they kill my ballistas too fast.
How can I deal with that?

Placing your totems strategically is crucial! Besides that, you can get the "totem life" modifier both on the tree and on regular jewels. You could use Spire of Stones (https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Spire_of_Stone) if you really wanted to push your Ballista life, but there are more useful jewels you want in its place.

In general, placing them away from monsters is your best bet.

@everyone: As I am playing SSF this league, I haven't had a chance to build this character yet despite finding 2 Iron Commander bows already. If I do, I'll try and build a version of this build that only needs 3 Siege Ballistas to ramp the DPS for clearing maps.
Late in Bestiary, I made a Scion version of this build (IronComwonder character if you wanna check it out, has some cool stuff!) that'd use Vaal Clarity with Increased Duration to permenantly have free totems while clearing maps. It was the smoothest ride I've had so far, but laying bosses could be tedious with limited accessability to the spell. If anyone has an idea how to deal with that problem, I'm all ears!
