Oni-Goroshi Flickerstrike 1.5mil DPS/ Frost Blades 1.3 Mil

My First Build
This is my first build guide and am happy to receive any criticism, pointers, or questions from you, the PoE community. So without further ado, let's get into the build.

A Bit About The Author

I have been paying PoE since the dawn of time, or in layman's terms, since Talisman League. I took a hefty break because when I began, I didn't understand what flasks were and kept dying in the Twilight Strand. Boy have I evolved. I have played RF Chieftain, and a Tukohama's Warchief build. However my heart belongs to the seizure-inducing skill that is Flickerstrike. I have played both Oro's and Terminus Est's versions and even dreamed of a DW version but my currency never quite matched the demands of that build.

Please Note: ANY and ALL changes to make this build better than my original post will be listed in a Spoiler at the Bottom of the build guide.

You will see on my sword a 6L Frost Blade setup I have been using to level and since it is quite a smooth ability, I have decided to add it as an alternative option in the PoB achieving 1.3mil dps if you aren't keen to Flickerstrike. (PoB pastebin near the bottom)

Pros/Cons

Pros
Spoiler
Very Fast Clearing
120% Movement Speed without Quicksilver Flask
1.5Mil DPS with investment
Not a Terminus Est Build
Not an Oro's Build

Cons
Spoiler
Not a guaranteed Frenzy Charge generator, as with other builds
Her Embrace can be annoying but never fatal if you take Vaal Pact

Premise of the Build
If you're coming to a flickerstrike build guide, I assume you know what it takes to run said skill: Frenzy Charges. Oro's Flickerstrike generates a charge on Ignite, and Terminus Est's Flickerstrike generates on Critical Strike. For this build we utilize neither of those silly toys, but rather a combo of both ignite chance, and high crit, and instead use

"
But, but, but sir... that doesn't generate charges, so how can we sustain Frenzy Charges...?
- Poor Little Timmy

Well Timmy, we're a Raider, so right there, that's a 20% on kill, and a 20% on hit against Rares and Uniques.
"
Well Sir, that's only 20% and if my math teacher taught me anything, it's that 20% is only a 1/5 chance..
-Poor, Confused Little Timmy

Well Timmy, we also utilize

in the Jewel slot right above Juggernaut, which bumps us up to 53% chance on kill. With 7 Frenzy Charges, that is more than enough to maintain Flickerstrike if RNGesus smiles down upon you.
However, if that isn't enough, you can run Poacher's Mark (though not reccommended for DPS purposes) to boost it by another 30% chance on kill. Or Ice Bite on your 6L Flickerstrike for a 69% chance to generate a charge on killing a Frozen Enemy (again, not reccomended for DPS purposes).
"
Wow
-Enlightened Little Timmy

A Bit About Oni-Goroshi

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Oni-Goroshi
50c for this sword, or 2-3 hours farming it in the Twilight Strand. All info about the sword available on the Wiki Link. As a heads-up on the actual damage inflicted to user when Her Embrace is active, on my PoB Lvl 100 with 5.5k HP, Her Embrace inflicts 600dps for 3 seconds which can be mitigated with Regen/Leech/and Fire Resistance. It can be fully mitigated with more regen, and without taking Vaal Pact.

Recommended Uniques
Obviously Oni-Goroshi and the Green Dream (This Jewel is not needed for the Frost Blade Setup)

Belly Of the Beast can be swapped for the cheaper Kaom's Heart if you feel you are sustaining Flickerstrike well and don't need an extra 6L skill setup.
BiS Amulet would be a Carnage Heart Amulet for Added leech/Damage/Resistances/Attributes or

If you find you are lacking HP, a rare Amulet with HP/Resistances is also a solid choice.

Recommended Rares
Spiked Gloves for their Implicit of 20% more Melee Damage
Steel Rings or even Opal Rings for this build are viable and great dps bonuses.

Gem Setup

Flickerstrike 6L: Flickerstrike - Melee Physical Damage - Multistrike - Melee Splash - Elemental Damage With Attacks - Inc. Critical Strikes
or
Frost Blades 6L: Frost Blades - Multistrike - Ancestral Call - Added Fire Damage - Elemental Damage With Attacks - Melee Physical Damage
^^^ Ancestral Call can be swapped for Maim for single target

CWDT Setup 4L: CWDT - Immortal Call
- Inc. Duration - Vaal Haste

Leap Slam 4L: Leap Slam - Fortify -
Blood Magic - Faster Attacks

Auras 4L: Assassin's Mark - Blasphemy
- Hatred - Summon Ice Golem

Bandits
Really is a choice of preference, any can be chosen. I chose Kraityn for the attack speed and move speed. The least beneficial would be Oak if you decided to take Vaal Pact but still a good choice if you opt out of Vaal Pact and decide you want more regen.

Pantheon
Major: Arakaali
Minor: Abberath

Ascendancy
1. Way of the Paocher
2. Avatar of the Slaughter
3. Rapid Assault
4. Avatar of the Chase

Flask Setup

Having a Staunching Life Flask is also a must, maybe even a Blood of the Karui, or a Diamond Flask.

[spoiler="Leveling Tips"]
- Take Frost Blades asap, and make sure you run Ancestral Call as soon as it comes available because your clear becomes ungodly while leveling.

- Tabula Rasa is not needed, as we have a built in 6L on our sword, which allows for flexibilty,
taking a rare life chest piece with res to help leveling and into mapping.

- Picking up a pair of Wanderlust boots will give 20% inc. Movement speed, paired with 2 Quicksilver flasks you will find yourself zooming through low levels and beyond (not to mention the 20% inc. Movement speed you get from Her Embrace activating.)

- Provided you follow the PoB tree, you should branch left for the health first, picking up all nodes except for Vaal Pact. Damage is not needed early on seeing as we have a scaling sword available at level 1 for our build. I didn't really invest much into damage til around level 50 and I didn't have a problem beforehand clearing. Once all HP nodes are picked on the left, branch right and up to the Shadow start, picking up your damage there along with Frenzy Charges and more HP.

Pastebin

Please make sure your PoB is updated as you cannot see Oni-Goroshi without updating. (Pretty basic knowledge.)

Updates To the Build
Gang's Momentum
Gang's Momentum are good, but without Life, they are not BiS. PoB shows me that without Gang's, my ignite chance drops by 6% but is still at a good 70% Ignite Chance. Also noted that the 40% damage against Ignited Enemies only drops me 30k dps if I chose to not use the boots. So for now, I have opted for
DPS currently is 380k full buffed.

Thank You
Thank you for reading this far and considering my build. Again, any concerns/questions/comments that are brought up I will try to get back to them ASAP. I am currently level 67 following this build and plan to keep it updated as much as possible.

Special thanks to PaxVesna for helping me get the Passive Tree where it is, and trying the Frost Blade Variant out. He is available for Q&A's about his setup, or to party up so you can see it in action.

Another Special Thanks goes out to my Mom, because while I was leveling, she found

which initially peaked my interest in the sword and the build that ensued. Yes my mom plays PoE. Yes she is single. No, you may not be my new Step-Dad without my permission.

Cheers Exiles, On Another Day on Wraeclast

Thanks for the build! I couldn't find any Oni builds online (what with PoB not having "her embrace" working until the latest build), so I was making my own and flying blind. It's nice to see that our builds are somewhat similar. Do you find the whole Essence Sap cluster is necessary? I'm still in the 60s so I don't know about later, but I find with just the single point into that cluster resolved all my mana issues.

Edit: I'd also suggest maybe using one of the 6 links (provided you're not using a kaom's) to use some kind of ancestral totem for more single target deeps. Again, I'm just throwing around ideas :D

You're right on the Essence Sap Cluster. I took out two points and ended up putting those towards the Eagle Eye Cluster for added Accuracy and Crit Chance, but you just as well can opt for Health.

As for the Ancestral Totem Idea, I run two 6Ls right now, Flickerstrike and Frost Blades, and I find that Frost Blades makes for an amazing single target ability when used with
becuase melee bosses will never come close. Frost Blades is special in the sense that it is Melee but also slightly ranged allowing Lion's Roar to have full effect on keeping targets away while we rain down on them.

can you add videos ?
Currently trying the build out. Clear speed is insane. The only real problem is having such low life. Seems like boss fights are kinda...1 shotty.

Basically get murdered by bosses but everything else is great.

I sure can! As soon as I google how to do that. Current DPS is 400k at level 75 without Steel or Opal Rings, or even my Merciless Lab yet. I will try and get videos up as soon as possible.

I am noticing that Gang's Momentum is giving me about a total 6% extra Ignite chance, and the additional 40% damage on Ignited Enemies is only coming up to around 30k DPS difference. So I might actually opt for rare boots with Res./Life/ and Movement Speed.

Maybe you could try the same and hopefully it smooths things out for you a bit!
Im running the build at level 82 currently. You can check out my Character Remriii to see the gear im rolling with now. I definitely think Rare boots with life will help but again, the one-shot potential is really high and im trying to find a way around it.
Ok so, after much trouble ive mildly increased our survivability. Arctic Armour, and removing Abyssus until later. Using Starkonja's instead. Its coming together but the survivability with 5.3k hp is still kinda meh. Ill work on it more tomorrow.
nice build, but what you think about The Red Trail to generate frenzy charge? i used red trail with bloodgrip in my setup :v
