" Might even drop hatred to run a high level clarity / use dream fragments / elreon rings. + Skill a lot of mana in the tree like you mentioned. Can also use Blas Vulnerability then, + spec into double curse and run a 2 curse setup. A lot can be done to manage shaper. So I thought about making my own guide or posting some stuff into this thread for a while. But since this is CI based SRS too and uses the sword, I guess this is fine here.
I made my own build a couple of days ago, after hitting 100 on my life based SRS necro earlier. I had some currency to spend, so what I did might not be as cheap as your version (or as cheap as low life with shav's), but it might be an attractive thing for you to think about and maybe work towards. The headhunter you can see on my level 93 necro is not needed for this at all and the skyforth are debatable and could be omitted at the cost of some minion movement speed on jewelry (which is the best stat for srs builds by FAR in my opinion). Basically, there are two major differences between our builds: 1) I do not scale the chaos damage provided by the swords aura 2) I use skin of the loyal (chayula unique) instead of a 6L vaal regalia. Using skin of the loyal instead of the vaal regalia still gets me to 12.5k ES even with the headhunter equipped (which has no ES at all), so a well rolled crystal belt could get you past 13k easily. I'm also not using the %ES crafts on rings, so there's even more room for additional ES, if you want to have that. Now the upside of skin of the loyal is that you can easily get a level 26 SRS setup going, or, if you get a vaaled one (expensive), you can have a classic level 28 SRS in the chest slot while still having the sword with its poison and envy aura on top. This leads to insane damage output. Even before I got the headhunter, I cleared shaped strand maps in about 60 seconds, including the boss, which seems to be some kind of benchmark for fast clearing builds. There is no boss outside of t16 maps that lives longer than a couple of seconds, even phase two malachai in the core map is dead before vaal discipline runs out (even twinned). The breachlords in their domains just explode too, I recently carried a friend through chayula and the boss died in about 5 seconds. It really is ridiculous. Of course, running skin of the loyal does have a downside too: The rare pieces that you equip, need to be pretty good, since you don't have a lot of room to cap your resistances and meet stat requirements, while still gathering enough base ES to scale with. When it comes to picking sockets for the srs setup, I've seen various suggestions for replacing spell echo. After testing a couple alternatives, I found culling strike with 20 quality to be my go to option, as it seems to outperform the rest. Getting one with 22% quality will net you 40% increased damage, 11% attack speed, 11% cast speed (helping you cast faster) and, of course, culling for your srs, which basically is a 10% more modifier against bosses and everything else just explodes anyway. It just seems to be better than void manipulation if you actually use it. I don't know why culling strike is never really being discussed. Unfortunately I have never made a video of anything and I'm therefore a little hesitant to figuring all of that stuff out, just to show a srs necro run wild on a couple of maps, but maybe I'll get around to do that too, becaus the clear speed is really insane. I was not sure if it would work out when I started that experiment, but around level 70 this new character started outperforming my level 100 srs.. by a lot :D I didn't have the +2 skin from the beginning, I started out with a uncorrupted one, the sword and skyforth, so if you manage to run without skyforth, this could be rather affordable and a possible upgrade step from your setup, once you gathered a couple decent rare items. edit: Just to prevent confusion with my curse on hit setup and the witchfire brew - I'm close to 94 and will respec into Whispers of doom at that point, so I can have vulnerabilty and temp chains. edit2: Oh and I do not rely on vaal clarity, I'm just using a high level clarity instead. Due to the skyforth I could think about getting a fifth aura though. I'm currently sitting on 385 mana unreserved, which is way more than anyone ever needs. Basically my enlighten gems, or at least one of them, is a wasted socket. Zuletzt bearbeitet von Wyand1337#5012 um 03.01.2017, 14:53:03

Hey Wyand1337, are you using envy?
Could you please post the auras and gems you are using and how you linked them? I don't want to use vaal clarity and would appreciate the help! I'm always mana starved even with all the mana regen and nodes and the dynamo wheel on the tree. OP: Great guide. Any incite you could share to help would also be appreciated :) Thanks! |

" There really is no weapon alternative for this build. You can use the poison gem in your links (for as little time as possible), but you *REALLY* need severed to actually make it work well. I used clayshaper, and it happened that I put my fortify/Shield Charge/FA on that weapon and those supported the clay golem, which was cool, and I used lightning for the second golem until I got an ex drop and bought my really nicely rolled severed (I do not recommend using the blessing yourself if you get a nice rolled one, just resell it and then buy a well rolled united, cause it changes some of the rolled properties so the good rolls don't help you any). |

" Only thing I can say culling strike is not worth the slot. Skyforth is basically useless in this build expect you can get a gg rare amu for more es, which is not really significant since skyforth suck at raw ES. Only thing you gain is a bit of reserve which gives 1 skill point. Chest idea is decent. " Well, the point of the amulet slot is more than just getting more ES. It also allows the use of a blue pearl amulet, giving heaps of mana-regen for free. Most importantly though, it is another slot to stack minion movement speed on, which greatly enhances map clear speed. I did a few quick tests on shaped courtyard maps earlier and it takes about 2 to 2,5 minutes to fully clear those. Since everything is a oneshot anyway, as you mentioned in your video, the main difference comes from how fast my minions and me move through the map. Which is achieved through minion movement speed, shield charge and vaal haste. So while I agree that the skyforth are not needed (i just had them in my stash anyway), they do allow for higher clearspeed through the stuff that you can get on amulets and rings. As I said, I am able to use four auras(envy, hatred, discipline and level 20 clarity) and have no problem with mana, as long as I use my potion during vaal haste. So reduced mana reserved and the additional regen through high level clarity and the blue pearl amulet certainly play a role there. The tradeoff is of course quite a bit of lost ES on the boot slot and higher demands on stats and resistances on the remaining rares, which drives up the cost on those too. But I am still at 12.5k ES, which is perfectly fine for everything. Regarding void manipulation vs culling: I did some more tests on that too, tried to keep map mods fair, so avoiding chaos and elemental resists on both, avoiding reflect, since it can lower dps too. On normal mapping it is barely noticeable. Except for the map bosses which die quicker with culling strike. On guardians it was a little bit different and the results depend on the guardian. Against chimera, void manipulation is obviously shit and culling strike is simply stronger on that one. On Phoenix and Minotaur, where the poison can properly stack without any problems, it did outperform culling strike, especially phoenix went down very fast. The closest call was Hydra for me, where culling strike managed to down him in one phase (after the initial short phase) while void manipulation allowed him to vanish a second time. But that was so close, it might have been luck with positioning. Against the shaper it is kind of a mixed bag. The damage was quite good, he died quickly and where void manipulation really shined was the mini boss in the intermediary phases. On the other hand, culling strike feels a bit better to play with my build, since I am not running normal haste, which makes mobility worse due to increased cast time. And then there's obviously the final phase, where culling the last 10% is a huge portion of the fight and it obviously wins there. But you might as well just swap it in for the last phase. That being said, it was still deathless against shaper and not terribly longer in phase 3. The only fight where void manipulation really sucked was chimera. That fight became straight up worse, but that was to be expected with poison immunity. Luckily, both culling and void manipulation are green gems, which is kind of important when it comes to skin of the loyal. I did by the way try making a video of my build and it worked, but all I got is a little video of me running through a T11 shaped strand map, which is not that interesting. |

" Those are all of my gems with links and the amulet which also helps with mana regeneration. On my skill tree, I currently skipped one of the reduced mana nodes on the sovereignty wheel, so I could get whispers of doom for dual curse. If I play this character to 95, I would get that node back, remove the enlighten gem from the glove slot, swap desecrate and shield charge and link shield charge with faster attacks in the gloves, to further increase map clearspeed. My unreserved Mana should end up somewhere between 250 and 300. On 96 I would get the increased curse effect nodes and beyond that I'd work towards another jewel slot, but I don't really intend to level anywhere close to 100 ever again. Without the skyforth, I'm not sure if this would work out. You could use all the auras, but you would certainly need both enlighten gems and still end up well below 200 mana unreserved (skyforth also provides a ton of flat mana). The less mana you have unreserved, the stronger your mana regeneration needs to become, since you get less of a buffer and mana potions can do less during vaal haste, since their effect cancels if your mana tops out. My current mana regeneration is technically not enough to sustain srs spam, but it is enough to cast 20 spirits before I actually run out and I would have to wait for mana inbetween casts. |
