In hopes that theres someone here who can help me with my dilemma.

Ive made a sort of version of this build with Ice shot for HC, can check my profile for more spesific information what ive done

But im wondering about the damage conversion to Lighting, the build doesnt scale elemental damage in nodes at all, is it still a better solution on a 5link to go PTL rather then PPAD? I tried PPAD over PTL and felt much worse, but im struggling with the mechanics of scaling on mechanical understanding level. It feels very bizarre to turn all my physical damage to elemental damage but not get any elemental damage nodes in the tree.

If someone could open the entire topic of damage conversion and how elemental damage and physical damage should be scaled, id appreciate it.

ps. hope this wasnt too much of an off topic

I have a CoC iceshot. did alot of research, etc into iceshot as well, when building it.

wed is definitely best. PTL is very solid, but consider the aoe cold is 100% phys conversion to cold. with ptl, its 150% conversion=100%cold/50%lit=77%cold/33%lit iirc. meaningless without any specific elmental damage buff, but may impact dps with fangs of frost, or Quality herald of ice.
Fangs of frost/forces of nature are obviously super good for you.

The big deal, is Pathfinder. I love pathfinder, I have been very vocal about that.. And you have master alch, for 40% inc elem damage, and immune+20% status. however, deadeye smashes Pathfinder for Iceshot.
Ricochet and endless munitions are irreplacable for iceshot.
The free chain will allow iceshot to shotgun for greater effect. Farshot carried over chains. And endless munitions will give +1 arrows for more shotgunning, and +aoe SIZE for easier shotgunning.
you can pull the god awful chain out of the 5l. And run just about anything else. Hypo, cold pen, Fa, pierce, fork, ppad.

You've only spent 4 ascendancy.. I would honestly recommend swapping.

I run HoI/HoT/Purity of ice on my coc iceshot. hatred is admittedly more raw dps. But, the heralds give more aoe, and purity gives easy mode reflect maps.
(Ideal is 20%HoI+HoT+Enchance for 36% qual HoI/HoT. Quality giving 27% inc cold, and lit damage.)

How bad am I gimping myself by using this 336 DPS Lioneye's Glare ?

Harbringers with less DPS are going for 2EX, non linked. Should I save for Harbringer or am I fine with my Glare?

Main problem with Lioneye's glare is reflect, since u cant dodge any of the reflected damage since the eapon has "hits cant be evaded"

and the second big problem is the low base crit chance only 5%... if u have lets say 300% crit hit chance increase the end result would be 15 crit hit chance

but if you have a weapon with 8% base crit u get 24% crit chance

in reality you probably have alot more then 300%, i have with power charges about 60% crit with base weapon having 7.5, and harbringers can get over 9% base crit so i would probably have 70-80% crit chance with higher base crit...

You are correct that the build dosent scale elemental damage in nodes.
BUT! you scale your physical damage in the nodes, after that you convert all that scaled physical damage to elemental damage (cold and lightning), that in turn is scaled with Weapon elemental damage support gem

if you are using physical projectile attack damage support gem it further increase your physical damage and then it converts it to elemental damage

so basicly :

Physical damage - anything that increase that physical damage, for example "increase physical damage, increase physical damage with bows, and so on"

then you get "Total physical damage"

after that everything gets converted to "elemental damage with weapons"

now you scale this with things like "increase elemental damage with weapons" and gem like "increase elemental damage with weapons"

so the main goal is to get as much physical damage as possible becuse you scale that twice, first with everything in the tree, and then with elemental damage with weapons gem and gear

here you can read more : http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion

its important to remember you cant convert more then 100% of your physical damage, so if you have 50% cold converted and 50% lightning converted, you cant have for example a quiver that converts 50% to fire

"First off, there is more than 100% of physical damage conversion, so the values are scaled to total 100%. As a result, 50% of physical damage will become Cold Damage, 25% will become Fire Damage, and 25% will become Lightning Damage."
What ascendancy do you guys think I should take?
I am currently Pathfinder, got some defense flasks and a Diamond to have high crit constantly.
I just finished uber trials so I can get my last 2 points (herbalist or natures boon). But I'm think of respecing into a different ascendancy, I am not sure if Pathfinder gives me enough Pros with no Unique flasks. I play SSF so I cant buy any Unique flasks.

Which ascendancy should i take with my gear and what points?

Natures boon by itself is only ok.
10% flask charges gained is very nice.
20% chance to not consume is too unreliable to really make use of. even if its pretty frequent.
flsk charges gained is nice in mapping, running around, etc. little value in direct boss fights. again, much better with ample flsk charges gained.
8% elem DR is not great from my understanding of mechanics.
example:
10000 damage cold hit, into 75% resist. 2500 gets through, into 8% dr. 2300 damage taken, 8% dr prevents 200.
Better then nothing sure. But hard to argue for by itself. its master alchemist that makes it worth it. Immune to status effects. And the 20% elem for some builds.

The Elem DR is better, the less resists you have, and worse the more you do.

85% cold resist due to +1% node, and pathfinder sapphire. 1500damage-8%dr=1380damage 120 reduced.
Conversely, -13%max resist map. (62%resist)
10000x.38= 3800 taken. x.92= 3496 taken, 304 reduced.

Any amount of DR could be life and death of course.

Hi guys,

first of all i didnt play the game for like 2-3 years, so im basically a noob.
I realy like this build, but i have a huge problem:

Every so often I run into a rare mob with reflect on it and basically instakill myself.
I just cant figure out what to do about that and at lvl 88 its really slowing down my progress.

I have 4,1k life (still working on it but it should be fine right?)
Inspecting every pack seems lame and stupid.
Lifeleech isnt really an option, since I would need around 15%.
Getting my dps down seems also stupid.

So how the hell do I deal with that?

are you using lioneyes glare?

you should get vaal pact
Hi, used the basic build till level 85-90 (drillneck version), then switched to the windripper version and played till level 94 (some time ago). Worked great but now everything (passive tree) has changed and im not too sure about getting it right. Would be very grateful if you (or someone who plays this) could update the new passive points for that. These versions are outdated atm. Thanks and good luck to all.

1)Not anymore, no
2)Hm that seems weird, since the op said its optional. But im saving on those Atziri gauntlets anyway, so i guess ill see. How much lifeleech do you think would be sufficient. Atm i have 1.6 while bloodrage activated.

In which situation Vaal Pact is not necessary?
