Funny when looking at the results of the pool, proves all opinions are suggestive.
My favorite area, by far, is the Imperial Gardens. After going through all those crappy grey, boring, depressive areas before, it feels great to finally be in a gorgeous, green, nature filled area. The level of details, the style, the atmosphere,... it just feels great. My runner up for best area is Sceptre of God. The level design (round maps) was interesting and breaks the monotony of everything always square or random. And the monsters where original, fun, challenging,... different and interesting, rather than mindlessly boring like everywhere else. My least favorite? I have to go with Lunaris Temple. Went there, didn't feel like going back. Its a bit too much gore and guts for nothing. The story doesn't even explain WHY there are oceans of blood, where it comes from, etc... I can understand the torture instruments and dead experiment subjects, from the whole experimenting with gems thing, which is cool, but the blood? There is no way they would get this much blood, no matter how much people they juice. Plus, after seeing D2 lava levels, well it just felt a little copy/pasted if you ask me. Runner up for worst would be Docks. Kind of boring, everything is the same, and the level design is horrendous. I don't have screenshots of it (I should have taken some) but I can't tell you how many times my character stopped dead in his tracks because there was a 2cm wide crack in the floor he just couldn't step over. WTF? |

My favs: I have so many but i think fellshrine ruins is my most preferred.
My least liked: Arsenal map is my pick. |

Favourite: Ledge. The music, mobs, and design all strike the right chords for me and are fun to farm.
Least favourite: Hedge maze. Some of the most annoying mobs in the game. I would much rather plow through hordes of easy to kill monsters than a small number of very tough to kill ones. A tedious design choice that reeks of mmorpgs. |

Fav: Fellshrine Ruins, ever since closed beta that's where I do my majority of farming, everything about that zone is perfect for me, especially the brooding church bells in the background. (To my dismay in the 2 week charity there can now spawn scelly roas in merciless but it's still my fav)
Least fav: Crematorium, it's almost always a hassle to get the resists to get the Tolman bracelet and progress depends on it. And to be honest no one likes necros and the ones here always finds a way to screw me over. Crematorium it is until there''s a zone with chaos based necros, roas, and avian retch's. Lunaris 3 Least: Scepter of the God Lunaris is the best area in the game to grind for xp/items out of maps, it has a great atmosphere and a cool boss to end with to get the goodies. The scepter of god has insanely irritating monsters, especially Paradisae Venenum can be very annoying. I encountered her together with a summoning exile in the same room, so Paradisae Venenum kept regenerating life because of the corpses of the summoned creatures. Its also quite irritating that the only reward for killing dominus is getting to the next difficulty level. I usually skip him entirely in Merciless and get on with maps or Piety runs instead. Fetid Pool The awesome fetid entrance to the pools remains one of my favorite area effects that GGG have ever added (and it's over a year old now). It's a simple area with a simple quest and it has a very straightforward ambiance. The music there fits well, the enemies are somewhat challenging (it was the place where the Necromancer enemy was first introduced, and bone rhoas hit hard), and lastly, it's optional. Least: Warehouses a.k.a. the place you come up from the sewers in and then quickly leave. The enemies here are lame (skeletons and undying) on one hand and painful (chaos spitting snakes, undying grapplers) on the other. The layout is maze-like and the buildings get in the way of the camera, even with the fancy building-fade-in effect that they added. There's absolutely no point to be here at all. Instead of "Slums -> Warehouses -> Marketplace + Slums Sewers -> Warehouses Sewers, Marketplace Sewers", they could have easily had Slums -> Slums Sewers -> Warehouses Sewers -> Marketplace Sewers -> Marketplace and cut out Warehouses entirely.
