Act 5 Avarius boss fight super projectile insta kill too strong

"and without warning.."

"I AM YOUR GOD"

Though yeah audio cues not always that reliable, it has a startup animation too, and it is already like the thing everybody should be watching out for anyways.
Is this boss supposed to be a difficulty wall? Even in standard, I can do almost the whole game up to this guy with no deaths (SSF), and then boom - 20 deaths to finish this damn fight.
I agree.
That fight is retarded and that skill is retarded.
Actually, all boss fights in this game are retarded, so nothing special here to be suprised.
dead game
bring back 3.13
POE problem is that every boss got different cue to look at.

There was only one game that I played where attack cues were well made and it was TERA, all mobs had the same cue of "glowing eyes". You didnt had to watch youtube to know cue, read wiki and so on, you always knew that when eyes of the monster glow you have to dodge or you will get smacked pretty hard.

Giving different cues that are not intuitive are really bad in action games, especialy when they can 1 shot you.

It's a good idea when you fight a POE boss for the first time to dodge whenever the boss seems to be making a big windup or they give a verbal cue. You can learn the cues for the big attacks of most bosses pretty quickly that way, and usually without your character dying.

I would find having the exact same cue for all bosses to be immersion-breaking.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
Move as far away from him as possible when he fires the balls. The longer the distance, the higher the spread, the easier it becomes to dodge. Also use movement skills. I find lightning warp very handy for boss fights.

Even though this is an old thread, I will agree that this boss fight punishes many builds more than others. If you have a hard hitting, fast moving character by this point, he is easy as pie. But if you are in the process of... oh, I dunno... leveling your character and giving them abilities, then you might be screwed. And also, the designers don't give a shit about my 1000ms of latency so. I just really kind of watch youtube and right click in the general area of the PoE window during this dude.

1000ms latency is way outside normal bounds. Of course they don't care about it. It's like complaining about bad performance on a windows 98 computer.

Look man, the funny thing is that I'm just trying to make these people feel a little bit better about having trouble with this boss. In fact, even at 1000ms latency he isn't any kind of problem for me, personally.
As a witch, the balls weren't really a problem for me. But that damn laser...

I just wish the difficulty scaling was more progressive/linear. The game feels pretty steady up to this point, and then BAM, difficulty wall out of nowhere.
