Act 5 Avarius boss fight super projectile insta kill too strong

Please fix this boss mechanic. The super projectile that does 5 waves of expanding fire balls is an interesting mechanic that you can die to if you run into too many of them. that is fine. but if it spawns on top of you it is an instant death no matter what you do or what level and resistances you have. i did this boss fight as a Templar summoner on hardcore and got instant killed. i had no idea what happened so i did it again on standard a few times. in total i did it 8 times. 6 out of 8 times i was instant killed by the super projectile mechanic because it spawned on top of me. it didn't matter where i was or where i moved to. the 2 times i didn't die was because the super projectile wasn't triggered before the boss died. there is something wrong with this. not a bug per say, but seriously messed up. i made a short video of it to show you.

the last 30 seconds is the only really important part but i wanted to show the whole fight.

You can dodge it by moving behind the statues. You need vision of the boss for that though (to see when it spawns), and I am not sure what it does to your minions. You can also dodge it without statues, but it is pretty difficult.

I would tend to agree that it is pretty mean on HC.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
you probably didn't look at the vid because if it spawns right on top of you you can't dodge behind anything. and actually if you look because of the timing of the fight there is only 1 statue that spawned and it is not solid yet in the vid. usually there are no statues to hide behind.

I did look at the video. The projectile is telegraphed, you just did not stand at a position where you could see the monster, and thus you could not see the telegraphing.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
Seems like a learn to play issue.

it doesn't spawn on top of you, even in your video you can see a big ball flying out of him and creating the balls. Also there is a cue - he says a certain thing before firing the projectile. Try practising the fight more (or look for videos for the mechanics of the fight)
for some reason youtube is being retarded right now. i'll upload another vid where i am standing in front of him. he has about a 2 second action and that is it. if it happens at the end of the fight right before he dies it is shorter. and most his attacks start out the same so you can't tell which is which until he is almost casting it and saying the phrase. i am trying to get that too but its not cooperating right now and i am busy with my 2 nephews at the same time. probably by tonight. Also with the monster being a ranged monster and running away and me being a ranged champion its hard to be on top of him to see everything. i also can't zoom out anymore to help fix this.

Another example that shows the impossible to dodge death balls in the Avarius fight. He dashes away off screen then short animation followed by death. I couldn't even predict it this time. you might say i walked into the skill but even if i stayed behind him i would have still died. Right after this the boss dies to my minions just to spite me too.

after having done this boss like 20+ times now it is easier to spot the ability but that is it. it is still luck if i die or not.

I've looked at a fair amount of different walk-throughs and literally the only way people get away from this is that they are quicksilvering already circling the boss and it just so happens that at that time the boss uses that skill. i actually barley dodged one of these today and it was the same thing. i was coincidentally running away from something else and he used it at the spot i had just been in. the animation warning is the same for most skills so even watching the "warning" you really only get maybe a second when he announces which skill he is using. and that is clearly too late. maybe this is just me ( and a lot of other people) not following the mechanics but unlike in WoW or whatever game you play on a raid, you don't die and re-spawn 50 times to get everything right. you shouldn't have to practice a boss fight ten or more times to get the mechanics down. i watched the tutorials and fight reviews. none of them for whatever reason even mentioned staying away from the boss or watching for him insta-killing you. while this might be specific to a build or something, it is still ridiculous.

I had three thoughts after watching your videos.

Your life pool was somewhat low for where you were in the game, especially for hardcore.
Your flasks didn't seem to be the best available for where you were.
You allowed the boss to face your summoner multiple times and you kept standing there and ate damage.

A few thoughts:

Try to have about 1800 life for that fight. 1500 is good for normal Malachai, and aiming a bit higher for the end of Act 5 would help.

You'll hopefully have at least one "Panicked" hallowed life flask by the time you reach Avarius / Innocence. It's worth some alts to have it available, as it would heal for a substantial amount with one gulp just when you need it most (after you reach low life).

When a boss like Innocence begins rotating to where he would be facing your character, move in the same direction so he never quite gets there. So, if he's turning clockwise to face your character, run around him in a clockwise direction. Treat bosses like Innocence just like Piety when she's shooting her laser beam in Act 4. Also, keep moving constantly when you can't see where a boss is facing, even if it's just in a small circle to avoid keeping all your minions wandering all over.

Innocence always drops his Big Ball of Doom in front of himself, so never standing a small distance away and directly in front of him is the simplest way to buy yourself a bit more time to react.

Having said all of the above, I agree with you that his Big Ball of Doom is overtuned.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

seriously over tuned fight right after act 4, and to shove it in 2 times over lol. git gud you say?
well i don't want to 'git gud' by trading resist gear, 4 linking / 6 linking on a PROGRESSION STORY BOSS. it's not end game mapping ffs. well i 'git gud' by throwing my bod at him since there's no xp loss till act 5 anyways.
