even if you grab vitality void, life leech is capped after you overcome a certain thresold of damage, reason why you're going to drop those points to take more useful nodes, like damage/life/jewel ones.
you can check path of building to know when you hit the cap.
life leech without vaal pact is meh unless you're not a duelist, but you have to blame the balance team and not this build.
a high rolled elemental damage atziri's promise is a nice option instead of vinktar :)

other than Wrath and Empower at level 4 (if possible), I would say level 21/20 Added Lightning damage and Barrage in your single target links because they scale very well with increased elemental damage.
I had all gems in my barrage setup at 21 but that's purely optional XD

Are any of the Watchers Eye variants useful to us?

Any of those except the ones that interact with physical damage is usefull for this build.

Just to add-on to what Toma said..

Personally, I use a Lightning Pen Wrath and Mana Leech Wrath one.
I Don't see any of the other ones to be as useful since Penetration is free damage and mana leech saves us a point in Essence Sap/Near Vitality Void for mana issues.

i'm res capped, with hh i switch the opal ring and a jewel to be res capped. for ele weakness maps warding flask is up 100% of the time

Tried Scion elementalist wander 2 leagues ago but it pales in comparison to pf wander at endgame.

A humble 1.6 mil shaper dps and 5.6k life so far... looking to 21/20 gems to reach 1.8 mil :).
