Question about iLvls and stat requirements...
Basically, does the base item determine the int/str/dex requirements, or the tier rolls of the mods on the item? The reason I'm asking is I'm curious if it would be possible to get a so-so base item to drop in a high-level map (consequently with a high iLvl), and then craft high-roll stats on it without affecting it's base requirements to equip the item (i understand the implicit mod is what it is, I just mean the prefixes/suffixes)? |

The base item sets the stat/initial level requirements and the mods set the level requirement. Higher tier items will also have a minimum level requirement as well.

Just to be clear, so an item like this could drop in a high level map with an iLvl of 79, roll max tier prefixes and suffixes and the level requirement might go up but the inteligence requirement would stay at 99?

Hi,
yes to your question regarding the increase in lvl-requirement while the stat requirement stays the same (edit: unless you roll the -x% stat requirement). It works this way: Every affix (= the stats that appear on an item) has its own level. On any given item, only affixes with a lower or, at max, similar level as the itemlevel can appear. If the affix-lvl is below or similar to the lvl-requirement of the item, nothing changes. BUT, if it is higher, the new lvl-requirement will be 80% of the affix-lvl if that would increase the lvl-req, if it would not, the old requirement applies. So basically, the lvl-req can never drop below the lvl-requirement of the baseitem, but it can be increased to a maximum of 80% of the itemlevel (as ilvl and affixlvl are identical at maximum). More information on Affixes and their influence on requirements can be found here: PoE-Wiki: Affixes I hope that cleared the confusion. best regards Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty!
