Soul Siphon Abyss monsters brick my character

This has now happened every time I encounter an Abyss Rare with the Soul Siphon mod - once entering it's aoe field, my character almost immediately becomes unable to use any skills or attacks. I can still dodge roll and sprint, but there is no way to fix it - it seems to fix itself randomly sometimes after 5 seconds, othertimes literally being over 2 minutes of trying to avoid mobs and eventually getting killed because I cannot do anything.
