Blasphemy not working?

It shows the circle at my feet and the icon on the top left saying that it *should* be working but wen I approach an enemy it doesn't show the icon on their head or below their hp bar. Both blasphemy and the curse r on the same weapon sets as well. I have tried elemental resistance, vulnerability and enfeeble but none worked. My friend also used blasphemy and it works for him. So what am I doing wrong?

Low gem level of your curses?

Check "Curse does not apply to enemies above level X" line.
