Atziri fight exposes serious problem with the game
|
Finally got to fight Atziri, one of the main things I've been looking forward to this patch
Playing oracle plant druid: entangle + cast on crit (storm+bone cage); gear worth ~3 divs, obtained via playing+trade My feedback after the fight: DISAPPOINTMENT - 1st phase - done in about 5 seconds - 2nd phase - done in around 15-30 seconds It didn't feel like a pinnacle battle Hell, I didn't even get to properly see any of the boss kit and moves Just *poof* and it's over. Instead of an experience what I got was a victory that feels hollow. Fodder map boss level difficulty type encounter. So I farm 12 maps again to get to the fight. This time I turn off my "cast on crit" to have the fight last longer and at least experience something. - 1st phase - now ~30-40 seconds. Got to see her clone and spear moves - actually quite cool stuff. Yet still over too quickly, had to restrain my attacks not to end it too soon. - 2nd phase - got oneshot by a random blood blast attack around 20 seconds in. hard to tell what was going on, but that felt like one of the `regular` attacks, not a big red telegraphed attack. And then I realized that there are no retries in this fight and I have to farm 12 maps to try again. Tbh this felt disgusting. Learning the boss is basically punished too hard and feels crushing. CORE PROBLEMS: - IF you follow "the golden path" - a build that's hot or that the game nudges you towards("water the plants" was hyped up and promoted by GGG in the vids), 99% of encounters in the game are too easy and fleeting to the point of feeling bad and worthless. - IF you stray from "the golden path" - you're in for a world of pain. Enemy damage numbers coupled with lackluster defense options are just unforgiving. This is pushing players to vaporize everything asap. Otherwise you will die a lot, and in case with Atziri you don't even have a good way to "git gud" and compensate for your lack of crazy damage with skill. - Hype, lore and all the dev work put into designing and implementing the pinnacle boss gets wasted in a way that feels sad and awkward. I really hope this gets addressed. I want there to exist a way to enjoy the boss fights, not oneshot competitions Zuletzt angestoßen am 24.12.2025, 14:13:36

league is undercooked and not tested

booted the game today and decided I'm done with this league
realized in the current state i don't really have anything to look forward to as a player zooming through maps and pinnacles stopped being fun after like 2 days looking forward to coming back and trying the next patch in spring hope they make balance changes so that players who want to enjoy good endgame fights can actually do so without going for some niche twisted build options that deliberately reduce your character power so the bosses don't die too fast + fix Atziri and flesh out the temple mechanic " very evident that it was rushed. and my biggest concern is that the next thing on their schedule is doing a poe1 league. so the possibility of "fate of the vaal" being abandoned in its current state feels very real and sad |

The best boss fight since day 1 has been the Trialmaster. Everything he does is very clear. I didn't instagib him and none of my mistakes resulted in instant death when I got clipped.
Not saying you shouldn't eventually be powerful enough to nuke him in 20s. And it isn't like you can even reach him with a weak character due to the trials, so getting blasted due to zero defense isn't really possible. Why don't the other bosses ever feel the way this guy did? All the other bosses are full of janky one-shots so your only choice is to end the fight ASAP. |

+1 props to the Trialmaster
fought him as a warrior in one of the previous patches and felt like the fight was actually fair and thrilling |

Yeah GGG needs to do something about these pinnacle bosses or even just the daily map bosses. Running a slam bear build and the fights last like 3 seconds.

I didn't even bother to try getting to her after the Architect guy before her just got vaporized before I could even tell what he does every time. I didn't want to ruin my experience should the game get better in the future...
But right now, difficulty is a complete joke, and it's not just endgame sadly. "Sigh"

" Well at least you killed her. I got her to the second phase, down to 10% and then it bugged out and she continued to fill the room with those little blood balls and wouldn't die. |

The boss design outside of the campaign falls apart, values are too janky with far too high a spectrum from underperformers to easily accessible overperformers and frankly GGG's boss design is just weak for PoE2s pinnacles compared to what I personally consider to be excellent PoE1 pinnacles.
They need to go back to the core principles they used to have for developing an endgame fight and get a handle on the power creep explosion we quickly get post campaign. I realise they want fights to be difficulty but its an ARPG there is a limit to how hard you can make fights without them being obtuse because the skill cap is so limited. Trying to push it makes fights like Arbiter who is honestly one of their worst designed fights, just a giant eye roll that doesn't fit in the game at all in terms of how the fight operates. Campaign bosses are bangin mostly though, almost all problems with them are gear related at the time you get to them (when you have issues) |
